Call Steve at Sonoran Steel.
Nothing against Steve, he is the resident Toyota guru. He is charging 200-250 to weld them on and I paid 210 for the DOM 4x innovations sliders. I have a cheap Harbor Freight welder but nothing that will give good penetration to weld this DOM. I'm not going to go the extra mile and get the DOM and then cheap out on the install, kinda defeats the purpose of getting the stronger metal.

that price is about right for any professional shop welder, your only chance to get a better price is to find a buddy,do it yourself, or get a less qualified welder.

heck even my shop welder buddies would want a couple 5ths of booze for the job.....

maybe post an ad on craigslist or start a thread in the Arizona section of the forum, i'm sure someone out there will help you out cheap, the forums are great for this sort of thing.

Too bad you are not local, I would do it, but i hate welding sliders on. My buddy does it for people all the time for $50 bucks or so, Heck he makes sliders and welds them on for you for $250.
I did my 4x sliders in about an hour. Its really no biggie. for $200 you could go get a harbor freight flux core mig welder learn to weld a little and dyi

Welders typically charge 80-100 and hour flat shop rate, it's always cheaper if your working from a garage or someone else's shop , but that price is right in line with the standard for certified welder with a job
Not saying buying a welder is a bad idea just that the price above is right unless you get someone else to do it as a side project

$200 is NOT out of line at all. Welding sliders on correctly is a 3-4 hour job. At $200 he is taking a loss when you consider any shop rate is at the minimum $75 per hr.
By the time you cut pinch welds, make scab plates for the frame (this is a must IMO), set the sliders to the desired angle, weld sliders to the legs, weld frame plates on, paint at least the back side of the sliders, and weld sliders on... It actually is a lot more time consuming than people think.

I can understand that, I already have the scab plates and all pieces cut, I found a guy that will do it for 150, so i'll probably go that route
If he's never done them before I guarantee this will be the last set he does for $150. Make sure either the guy you're going to knows what he's doing, or you keep a close eye on the install. While installing sliders is not rocket science, there is a process to it and if not done right you will see it every time you get in the car. The scab plates have to be in a diamond shape when installed which means the bottom corner of a square needs to be cut off or they will be too high on the frame for the legs to fit in the diamonds. The legs will also need to be cut down to get it tight to the car. If you want them as high as possible the pinch welds will need to be cut and massaged.
If the guy has never done them before then I'd say your money is better spent going to SS and paying the extra $50 for someone that has done them many times before.
Just trying to help you out here. As I said... This is one install that will not be easily changed if you are not happy with the results and you will have to look at it EVERY time you get in the car.
Bolting them on is a much harder job than welding them on even if there were plates already attached to the sliders (which there isn't) All the bolt holes in the frame would need to be sleeved to be done correctly.

I have done a few sets for free. They are a PIA I guess $50 would still be a good deal.
This is how I feed my kids so I can't do them for free unless you are a REALLY good friend. I just did an install on Wednesday (hadn't done one in a couple months) and I really didn't have any fun

Ya I don't have kids and I can go a few days without food. I can also understand the charge of $250 they are a PIA. I do it as a hobby. My normal side job rate is $50/he. Having spent over 8 he on a slider install free was a hell of a deal.

My response is that considering that the slider is there to essentially hold the weight of the rig up and save the rocker panel, doors, etc. Isn't $200 to make sure its done correctly worth it?
Most of us paid several thousands of dollars for a clean rig. We want to keep it that way. The sliders save the rig. IMHO, paying a professional to do it right is money well spent when you consider the job they are doing.
And, $200 is actually cheap. Most slider installs are 4hrs. That is only $50/hr. We are actually taking a loss at that shop rate.
You should see some of the slider installs that come into my shop that we have to fix. Some of it is downright scary.
