Slight Jolt in 2008 T4R V8 4x4 when letting off brake from stop?

I've had my 4runner for a few days now and am really loving it. It's been snowy around here lately so those are the conditions I've been driving in just FYI. I noticed yesterday that sometimes when I've been stopped at a stop light and it turns green and I let off the brake to get going there is a slight jolt. It almost seems as though something is engaging or disengaging. It's kind of hard to explain. Anyone have any idea what this could be? is it normal?

The vehicle is a full time 4wd 2008 limited with the V8. Thanks for any input.

That's pretty common. I had it on my '00 3rd gen and on my '08.

If I recall, the suspension stores some energy while braking and it releases like a spring when you let off the brake to begin rolling again. I've come to pay it little attention and have not really made a connection to things that more frequently make it occur or what to do to mitigate it. It can be a bit unnerving at first (I had thought someone had bumped into my rear bumper) but you'll get used to it.

I THINK there was some chatter about lubing part of the drivetrain or suspension to reduce or eliminate it...

I'm sure others will correct me.

You need to grease the driveshafts. Do a search and you should be able to find the info here.

Yup, that's the one.

Mine was doing this and it was quite annoying.

Lubed the zerks and the slip-joint and all has been great for two years.

TIP: it will take at least 15 pumps of the grease-gun to do the slips. Watch for movement and stop if you see some as you are adding grease.
