I replaced the OEM tires on my 2018 4Runner SR5 (1,500 miles) with a set of Nokian Rotiivas. The shop did a good job at balancing the wheels, and I went back a couple of times to fix some minor steering wheel vibration that I would experience at highway speeds.
At this point, I still see a slight vibration in the steering wheel around 65mph. If I keep my hands on the wheel, I don’t really feel it, but if I take my hands off the wheel, I can see the vibrations (about 1/8 of an inch each direction). Again, this only happens at 65mph +/- 3-4mph.
The shop told me they did the best they could to balance the wheels. I went back 3 times, they reset the tires, re-balanced them, etc. – were very helpful.
I am a bit OCD about this
, so I want to ask the community – what are your thoughts about this ? I also understand that some 4Rs have an issue with steering wheel vibrating. I don’t remember if I experienced this with the stock tires or not – probably not.
Can this be corrected further ? Is this an issue ?
