Slo.Runners Slow build thread!!

so i had a stud break off a cheap pair of spacers so i replaced them this weekend. these are hubcentric unlike the last garbage

not to much of a update but its something. since the day i lifted my 4runner i have been tracking down a 50+ mph wobble and a pull when i gas or brake. i have already replaced UCA and also new whiteline LCA bushings as well as tie rods and ball joints. and non of these really helped with the issue. this last weekend i replaced the steering rack bushing. boy were they kinda a pain in the ass to do in a small apt garage. the old ones were so soft i could just pick it out with my hand. but got them in and it has fixed my 50+ wobble and the steering feels better then i have ever known it to be. but now i have a 70+ wobble but it feels like its only from the pass. front tire. i just had the tires rotated and balanced. so i dunno now. still have the pull when gas to brakes are used. but im hoping that replacing the rear control arms will take care of that one.

not much to see but there are new bushings in there woohoo!!

Have you checked your brakes? Not for the vibes, but I had a stuck caliper that caused pullingwhile braking.

i have replaced the stock brakes with the 231 tundra upgrade so hopefully that is not the case. i have a strong feeling that its the rear arms. i already have a pair or sonoran steel rear arms and pan hard bar to put in when i have time. and its not in single digit temps outside

got a little more work done. got some SS rear control arms and pan hard bar. and man did it make a difference. my highway vibration has gone down alot and no more pull when i gas or brake now on the highway. good stuff.

the old bushing really didnt look bad at all. i guess just the axle shifted over made all the problems.

rear control arm comparison

well even tho it has been kinda cold i managed to get come boring maintenance things done. my throttle pedal was vary stiff to press and i didnt think i was getting full throttle when i would floor it. so i picked up a new cable to fix this. when i hooked up my phone to see it showed i was only getting like 75% well now it feels much better way more response but still not getting over 75% so now im thinking maybe my TPS is not working right even tho i dont have a code. here is the new one next to the old and the busted rubber peice by the pedal

also will i was getting dirty i replaced the front sway bushing with poly ones and also replaced the rear sway links with 2nd gen rears. really changed the feel of driving

thanks hopefully after all this wear and tear stuff is done the fun mods can start. this rig is just screaming for more power

the weather was to nice this weekend not to try and get some work done on the runner. i bought a new/reman cv axle "i guess they are all reman. now" and also a long travel boot from off road solutions. I must say that i am not sure how i feel about this boot. it was a real pain in the ass to do.

here you can see the newcv with the boot. ohhhh so cool looking.

so they way it works is you have to remove the old boot and cut the big side ring off and use that and the new boot stretches over that. so my brand new boot had to be cut :yell: man let me tell you trying to stretch that shit over with grease all over the place was not fun. so then after i got it on finally i went to use the provided cv clamp and it is to small to fit over. I ended up using 2 clips hooked into each other to clamp it.

after the slippery fight to get it on then the clip to small i finally got that bugger installed

well see how they stand the test of time now. huge pain in the ass. here is a view from the bottom looking up at it. they seem to have some weird bending

after all said and done i drained and filled with some redline and called it a day

got a few more thidone over the last few weeks. added some sweet amber led action to the panels under the head light and also did the taco whip antenna mod. my stock one got broke off in a car wash and has been screaming everytime i would turn the truck off. so glad that is all over now.

also picked up one of the snorkels from amazon the price was right and the fitment is not that bad. there is a bit of a gap in the front and the rubber tube that goes inside the fender was a huge pain in the ass to put on.

all said and done up in breckenridge over the weekend

update. i got the last part to the taco antenna swap and damn this thing is so long. it sticks up higher then the roof but at least i can get radio now.

also installed a 1" Toytec body lift this weekend in my super tiny apt. garage. huge pain in the ass in such a small space but its what i have to work with so it will do.

thanks. thats my version 2 of them. first set i made had the bigger led circles and they were just not as bright as i wanted. so the second set is the smaller ones and they are really bright.

Did some tinkering this weekend since it was so nice out. since i am planning on getting a new front armor bumper i wanted to move the blinkers out of the bumper. i pulled the side marker out and ran the wire up. then drilled a hole right above the side marker light. got some amber led bulbs and some wedge bulb sockets. little bit of silicon and bam side markers with blinkers.

so ever since i lift my runner i have had...a pull when i gas it and when i brake.
This won't go away without leveling the panhard bar. Because of the geometry, when the suspension compresses, the axle moves to the left, which causes the rear of frame in turn to move toward the right (causing a left turning tendency). Alternatively, when the suspension lifts (like under braking), the axle is pulled to the right by the panhard bar, in turn pulling the rear of the frame to the left, causing a right turning tendency.

I hope this makes sense! I am getting ready to do some welding under my rig to drop the frame end of the panhard bar as well.
