Slotoyo's Slow Build Thread *56K Warning* Lots of Pictures!

:wave:Hi

This is my first time posting on here. Not really new to online forums but am new to the SUV/Truck platform of vehicles. Little about my self is that im 24, in the Navy as a plumber/welder (stationed in Hawaii):surfer:, and have have been working on cars since about the age of 16. I never was really interested in lifted vehicles usually because i helped build cars that were lowered and swapped. Every car ive owned have been a Toyota but none really too exotic. My first car was a 1997 Corolla with headers, exhaust, intake, and lowering springs.

Soon after having my corolla for about 3 years my 2001 Celica came dropping into my lap. My cousin was moving out of state and wanted to get rid of his celica as soon as possible so i gladly took it off his hands ready for a new platform. Over the years i slowly built her to my liking even though its not everybody's cup of tea.
When i got her:

I went through a lot of blood, sweat, tears, tickets :frusty: , and wheels to finally get her to where she was almost perfect in my eyes.

Now i recently came to purchase a 2005 V8 4WD 4 Runner Sport Edition because of my outdoor lifestyle and no need in having my lowered celica taking to all these places so i wanted something with 4WD. I wanted a Tacoma but with the price i got the 4Runner im not complaining.

So enough about my past here goes the pictures and progress so far.

:( So i forgot to take pictures of when i first got her but its was all completely stock so its not hard to imagine. Once I purchased her i quickly looked through google trying to find the best T4R sites/forums i could and this is where I landed! :) After countless hours of reading the forums and looking at pics i knew i wanted to purchase a lift kit first. So after looking at reviews and what best came in my price range I went with the Toytec Boss Lift kit with Blisten 5100 and the Superflex 2.5HD coils. I also purchased a set of 5k HID's from Toytec to go along with my purchase. I was surprised on how fast the order came through:
10989146_10206473739508680_5889793269382972237_n.jpg

Also i asked for them to draw a penguin on the box

Toytec FTW :bigok:

I didn't put the lift kit on at first since i had to fine time when I didn't have a weekend duty to put them on all at once so i just put the HID's on for now

But after 4wheelparts big truck fest in Hawaii i had purchased a new set of wheels and tires and inspired me to finally stop procrastinating and get my lift on.

Now next things on my list are:
- Blacked out Headlights
- Sliders
- My tires mounted but i have to try and get new ones since i ordered 35in Nitto Trail Grabbers but it seems like it would take a lot to clear those :cry2: might end up going with 285/70's or 265/70's
- Upgraded sound system
- Plasti-dip paint job

No specific order just what i feel i want next.

Also for some relaxation, went to the beach and found a small off the road path. Still need to take her off roading.

Gotta say I like what you've done to the 4Runner more than the Corolla and Celica! Not a fan of the shifter knob but everything else looks well done!

Nice build. How much did those wheels run you? Also fingers crossed for advancement results in may.

Wheels were on sale at 4WheelParts truckfest out here. $400 for the set.

33's were about 1500 with tire installation.

And yeah i hope some of my guys make it this year. I just made second this past September exam actually

So are those tires 285/70r17's or 285/75r17's? They look like a super tight fit.

They are 285/70 pretty tight fit but not so bad had major clearance issues but with a little cutting/ grinding and the fender liner pushed forward helped with some rubbing but I still need to cut my body mounts and weld a plate.

Got the 4Runner a much needed detail last week very happy with the turn out but really didn't help that i went off roading with a couple Jeep friends the next day

Yesterday i decided to do an oil change since she just turned at 75,000 and might as well replace/upgrade my endlink while i was at it.
