I'm cheap, so if anything ever happens to my junk it's usually only after I find a smokin deal or I sell something else to offset the cost. This sometimes takes a while. Also, I'm generally not a big modder and don't really take my rig offroad, so there isn't a giant list of stuff I got waiting to do. Thus, this isnt going to be some giant build thread where I got new parts coming in every weekend, but rather just a place to document what happens when I do get around to making some changes.
It might seem like I've done a lot and spent a lot in a short time from the pics below, but it's probably taken a year or more since I got the 4runner to get to where its at today. Any new parts I've ordered, I've paid for by selling some extra parts/projects.
Here goes....
In stock form
First go 'round with the lift. Bilstein 5100's with stock springs on the highest notch in the front. Freebie LC 7.5 wrap springs with LC Tokico Trekmaster's in the rear. A lot more rake than I wanted..
Ended up getting some Eibach 3" springs for the front, and put the Bilsteins on the bottom notch. Not level, but the rake is significantly less. Still riding on the 275/70/16 BFG's at this time.
Was keeping my eyes out on craigslist for a while til I found a good deal on a set of Tundra/Sequoia split spokes locally. Stuck them up in the rafters until I could find a buyer for my tires/wheels and some new tires to fit the split spokes. Finally sold my wheels and tires last week and picked up some 285/70/17 Duratracs that were about 4 months old from a guy just down the street from me. Ordered some 1.25" Spidertrax spacers to help with the clearance.
Comparison shot between the Duratracs and the sketchy stock Tundra tires I rode around on for about two weeks. Three rock hard slick tires and one with a cut in the sidewall down to the steel belts
Good thing I work from home and don't have to drive too much.
Here's how I'm sitting as of today.
My factory power antenna is broke off, so I do know that I'm gonna hit the junkyard for a Tacoma whip. Deckplate has crossed my mind as well. Don't really need sliders for rocks or anything, but I wouldn't mind having some to use as a functional step to replace the running boards. Clearcoat on the wheels is wearing thin, so I'm gonna get around to painting them sometime hopefully soon..not 100% sure what color, although I am thinking possibly bronze. I bought some bronze KMC's for a diesel truck I had and sold them before I could run them and have been itching to have another set. Havent seen the split spokes in bronze before so that could be cool. Other than that, who know's whats down the road for me.......
