Swap the #3 coil with either #1 or #5 first.
If no change, take a long screwdriver or stethoscope, put it up to injector #3 and see if it is firing (you can hear it if it is). Or you could pull the connector to the injector and see if there is a noticeable change.

The injector has to be working. It idles fine, drives fine except for every once in a while the stumble. I will swap coil packs but I have no CEL. It just briefly flashed and went out. If the light doesn't come back the stored code will delete itself. How will I know if swapping the coil did anything if the CEL doesn't come on?

I have no idea how you would know about swapping the coils if there is no cel to follow for the misfiring. I cant help there. Maybe there is a way to bench test them somehow?
But I thought I read on here before that someone had a bad fuel injector but it didnt act up all the time. So maybe it could still be a bad fuel injector and only acts up when it wants to? Anyone know for sure on that?

I would not guess the injector as being faulty. I will clean the MAF tomorrow and see what that does. Like I said, it is just acting up a little now. For the most part it drives fine, but every once in a while it will stutter like it is misfiring.
From what people have been saying the MAF can play a big part so ill see what that does. If I get no change I will have to look into the injector/coil situation.

Okay. I swapped the cyl 3 coil for the cyl 1 coil without resetting the computer. I decided to get the code checked again today and it is still showing cylinder 3 misfire (po303).
I went ahead and reset the computer and am gonna try again tomorrow to see if the code changes.
I also bought some fuel system cleaner just to see what that does. I've had good luck in the past with other vehicles so we'll see about that.
I'm prepared to either buy a coil or injector, but not prepared to buy both so I need to troubleshoot more.

Okay I have an update.
I cleared the code last week and was waiting for it to come back and today the light finally came back on so I went and had it checked and the trouble code moved to cylinder 1 from 3 which is where i moved the suspected bad coil. So I ordered a new coil from camelback toyota parts and hopfully Ill be all set with the new coil. I'm just glad I dont have to mess with the injectors!

Good to hear. Sometimes it is best to start with the basics. As someone reminded me the other week, to chase down a miss, check ignition first, then injection, then compression.

I have this same issue. I just got my ngk plugs and wires. Hopefully that will be my issue, if not I know what to do to fix it. Thank you!

So my new Denso coil came in today so I had it installed about 5 minutes after I received my package. The truck runs like new again. No hesitation, no misfire so here's to hoping it continues for a while!
