smkd13's Build Thread

Overall the process was smooth and pretty too the point... We decided to leave both swaybars off... honestly the ride is fine without them... even when going 75... but i am definitely seeing the point of a re-gear... The truck cruises at a lower RPM but downshifts A LOT more... found the happy medium to be at somewhere around 65 to 70... this ain't no race car so i don't mind that... The GY Duratracs are unbelievably quiet on the road... I have a little more vibration but that can mainly be felt on mid range of the RPMs, as well the rearview shakes a little more... nothing too bad though... There is a lean to the drivers side but I am sure that the reason for that is the lack of swaybars and the fact of a sub, two batteries, gas tank, and me all on that side... it sits pretty level but but looks as it is sagging in the rear but it is level...

Overall I am happy with it... Will reinstall the swaybar and see if that helps with the lean.

Here are some pictures on it

So this is the boss coilovers, superflex, and 5100s right? any BL?

Nothing really fancy this time just a diff breather and change my fuel filter. Used a piece of tubing to double up a point that will rub, electrical tape and zip ties to hold it on. Plus decided to try out permatex's thread sealer.

Oh yeah was just having some fun up AF Canyon

null_zpsaf107c4c.jpg~original

Where up af is this?

Nope no body lifts just the boss and super flex coils

Cool I'm considering doing this setup cuz i figure, might as well spend the extra dime and get a quality lift. I'm going to start collecting the components like the brake lines and panhard and all that pretty soon and that way, i'll knock my TBU, my lift, and maybe sliders out all in a few days, but in the meantime. i think I need a new battery...... Yay.....

Well not much of an update but just replaced my UBJs and yeah 15k and they are bad is not cool but all well. I must wheel too hard and apparently I had dirt get in with the grease.

Poser for kicks and giggles

And some current welding I did 2G Bevel 3/8" plate 3-pass. Not a fun weld but I got it down

4F 3/8" Lap Single Pass

2F T-Joint 3/8" 1st pass of 3

3pass

Getting better as there where from when I fist started school

Well i guess this is long over due, but i guess i might as well update this thing. First up i did a little bit of painting to give the
runner a little bit of flare. Why did i do this? well it all started with clearancing my front fenders as on full stuff my tires rub. So i took about an inch and a half out of them and then needed to paint them and got a little carried away. I still have the back doors to do though and i am just lazy. But here is some pics:

A local kid here wanted to go back to stock and offered the swap for stock parts, install labor and $900 (minus a bit off that for some parts that i will be procuring for him) but here is what i got out of the deal:

2nd Gen TRD Supercharger w/ Dynamic Tensioner
URD 7th Injector w/ Walbro 190
URD 2.1 Pulley

I added the following:

New IK22 plugs
Stant 170 deg thermostat
bracket for a 2001 4runner

Having a Transgo shift kit installed next week. I was going to do the IPT but after doing some research, the Transgo A340-HD2 shift kit does the same thing as it reworks the valve springs, adds some shims to the actuators for increased line pressure, and opens the ports to accommodate the added line pressure. The result is an increase in clamping force on the clutch bands and reduces the slip that is involved with the "comfort shift" our transmission have stock. The HD2 kit also adds the ablility to select and hold a gear, for instance lets say it will hold 1st without shifting to 2nd.

All i will have left is to get a high flow cat and some headers. I guess I can actually get a TRD decal now lol

Damn that was a killer deal on the SC and the bumper looks good so far. Got any pictures of the final paint job? It looked like in one of the pictures above that you hadn't painted the doors either.

Yeah I guess good things come to those who wait lol and I have just been lazy and haven't finished it. I am hoping for a good day next week. I still have the back doors, front drivers fender, grill, and good to paint. One good days worth of painting lol

Lots of goodness going on quick...have you driven it much yet and had it up to temp. What kinda temps you getting with that stat?

So far they have been sticking around normal (just have the stock guage right now) I am most likely getting a water temp sensor soon so I can report back on that later on. Now the question is: Scanguage 2 or stand alone guage lol

I am running straight distilled water at the moment and it heats up a little quicker now. I will be putting it back to a 50/50 mix here on Sunday I am thinking.

You excited for Moab bud?

Did you get the transgo kit installed? Which mode did you select? Did it affect ATF temps? Thanks

Yes sir I did. Got it installed last week. I went with the street option as strip would have been way too much. The low override is definitely a nice thing to have. Nothing worse than trying to crawl a ledge and have the tranny shift on you. I have not installed a transmission temp gauge yet so I can't really confirm if it did or not.

Get at me in Moab and I will take you for a ride and you can see how it preforms

Great build thread man. I look forward to wheeling with you in a few weeks.

I'd like to suggest you consider putting your Locker posts in a separate write up thread if you haven't done it already. I can then link it in the documentation sticky. Great job!
