I got a free sample from tnt signs and used it to create eyelids. I don't think I'll tint the heads & tails after all because I am interested in safety first. I posted pics and some more details up in the thread linked in my sig. One thing that I didn't mention is that I cut the piece a little larger than I needed and then folded it around the edges to create a more seamless look. BTW, it was a real quicky job.

Is it opague where if we were to put it over the tailights the lights would still be seen when light up?

Sorry Shaun...was hoping you would have better luck with him. It's pretty obvious this guy had no intention of working with us...just wish he would've said that up front instead of wasting all of our time.

Luxury...nice job. Looks cool. I'm going to keep looking for some alternatives too. I'll let you guys know if I find anything. I've only found transparent yellow and red so far.

Hey guys. It has been a while since we discussed blackening the lights but I think a new member from Japan has a pretty good solution. He sprayed them with this Lens Painter Coloring Spray. There's a similar spray available in the U.S. and Canada called "NiteShades" from VHT.. Runs about $10+/can if I remember correctly.

Used it to tint the tail lights of a '97 Integra GS-R I used to have...
For best results, you need to remove the lenses you intend to tint. The stuff is fairly permanent.. you also might consider applying some clearcoat as it will leave a dull finish.. lenses will no longer have a "shiny" surface. The stuff CAN be removed, but again, the lenses will need to be sprayed with some type of clearcoat, as the removal of the coating will leave a dull surface... Only apply this stuff after you've practiced your painting technique and only if you want it to be permanent... I thought it might look kinda cool to black out the red lenses in the rear bumper and the front turn signals.... lights will still shine through when on... Remember the "blackout tail lights" on the old Chevy Berettas? Thats pretty much what this stuff looks like after its been applied.

i tinted mine myself and do it now professionally. So if anyone still wanted theirs done i could do it and have them shipped back to you within 2 days. Also my 3rd gens are for sale in the class. section.

do you spray them or do you put vinyl over them? I want something that is semi permanent.

haha semi permenant? yes this is permanant but if your really want to reverse it and put them back to stock, for instance when you sell your car i could help you with that or do it for you.

This is not the vinyl that will scratch and peel. We use only the best automotive paints and clears to give your lights the best possible appearance and that "show, mirrored" finish.

old thread i know but,

broncosi, how much do you charge to do this? i just had a shop right up the street from me quote about $100. is that in the ball park, or should i just try to do this myself with a couple of cans of paint? it can't be all that hard, but i hate painting stuff cause i invariably touch it or drop it or something else dumb!
