Smoking engine 22r

I bought a 1987 truck just for the bed for our 1986 eXtra cab. I put the rusty bed from the 86 back on the 87 and decided to fix the 87 up some and sell it. The truck has a early 80s 22r maybe an 82 to 84 not sure? The engine had no compression in the #4 cylinder and the other 3 were at 145 pounds each. We pulled the head to find that the head gasket was blown between #3 and #4 but not bad....The truck ran before we pulled the head and did not smoke at all.
We replaced the head gasket and the timing chain because it was warn. The truck had a double timing chain and we replaced it with a single chain because I had one already. We replaced the valve seals too and everything else looked fine.
The truck now has 155 psi in all 4 cylinders and it runs great but now smokes like a chimney....
The truck is a 4x4 5 speed and has only 3 vacuum lines, brake booster, PVC, and vacuum advance.

I hate to think the rings are bad, the engine has good compression and has great oil pressure and runs super.
Maybe someone of you guys can think of something I can check for that maybe causing the issue.

Is it running rich? Is it a white smoke or a darker smoke? You said it was carbed, was there anything on the carb you adjusted or took off when you took off the intake side of the engine for the head gasket?

How are the spark plugs looking?

The carb is a Holly 500cfm 2brl. We did adjust air fuel but that was it. No oil in water no water in oil....the plugs are wet but not soaked in oil. I do not remember removing anything from the carb.

Since all you did was the head gasket, I would verify timing and make sure your spark plugs are good. If the plugs aren't burning good enough you could get white smoke from raw gas in the exhaust.
