Snorkel

what are the prices looking to be on these?

If I can finish a deal with them... (there is an issue on MOQ) I can sell them for around 220-245 each. but they are wanting an order of 500pcs (40' container)and I do not even stock that many FJ snorkels. I can break them up for 4runners, sequoias, and tacomas, but that is alot of overhead plus 4200 dollars for the freight.

I bet there are no more than a dozen 5th gen guys that would even buy a snorkel this soon in the game anyhow.

I think you could honestly count about 50 over 6 months. That's still not 500 though...

FYI, 20' containers are just as standard as 40'. And before I did anything I would want them to send one over to be installed for fit / function.

Any clue why they even made them? Is there another platform it would fit?

20' containers cost nearly the same to ship as 40' (about 10% less). So doing a 20 would double the shipping cost per pcs. My other company brings in 2-4 40 foot containers a week and I am trying to get them to put a sample or at least a small order on one of our other containers. It does cause some issues with their taxes and it can be troublesome in Customs.

My main concerns are product materials. It took me a over a year and 9 samples to find a high quality injection molded UV stable FJ snorkel. I cannot imagine these would be very high quality.

They make snorkels for some odd US only models. The 5th gen....sure I get that... But the sequoia.. He claims he was approached to make them for another US company, that has since been sold. ???.?

Honestly, with these guys who knows. I can fly back over there and visit the factory, but it won't be until after SEMA.

Saw this LC snorkel today and thought I'd keep this thread alive......

Maybe someone should give this company a call.
5th Generation 4Runner Snorkel | Expeditioneers

Hopefully the R&D is more than a photoshop

Just shot them an email, we'll see what comes of it. I'm not getting my hopes up at all though, I know that thing has been "under development" for quite some time.

UPDATE:::: Here is my initial email correspondence with expeditioneers...

Hi Patrick, thanks for reaching out to me.

Airflow has shelved the snorkel for the 5th Gen Runner at this time. The
factory is in the middle of a move to a newer facility. Once up and running
the focus will be on producing current stocking inventory.

At some point I'm sure we will revisit the Runner, but don't expect that to
be this year.

Sorry for the bad news, just trying to be honest...

Subject: 5th gen 4runner snorkel

Hello!
I am the proud owner of a 5th gen 4runner and just wanted to inquire as to
the status of the development of your snorkel for this model. As of now, it
seems that your company is our only hope for this product and I can tell you
that there would be a great number of us 5th gen owners that would be lining
up waving money in your face for one of these. Between the dusty back roads
here in CO where I live, and the water crossings back east where I'm from, a
quality designed and built snorkel for my truck would be just the thing I
need for a little extra peace of mind. Thank you for any consideration!

:::So it seems that there may still be a little hope, but it will be quite a while before it comes to fruition. Oh well, I'll just keep changing my air filter every month haha

I've been talking with Nathan at CBI. It's my next project. I trust them that it will turn out as well as the rear bumper.

The various snorkel manufacturers are seriously under-estimating how much of a market there would be for a 5th Gen snorkel. This isn't 2010 any more and the 5th Gen is no longer a new vehicle. I cannot drive to the grocery store without seeing at least 5 5th Gens on the road along the way. I've seen at least a half dozen parked in drive ways within a half mile of my house.

And how many of those folks apart from you have off-road crap on their car and would go so far as to run a snorkel? I have seen one 5th gen with a spacer lift in Houston in the two years since I bought a 5th gen. Don't think he'd be running out and putting on a snorkel either... Companies make things to sell a bunch of and make lots of money. I don't see there being a huge market compared to jeeps n stuff. Just saying.

I've been talking to CBI about doing one. They said they'd be up for it. I'll volunteer my rig as the beta/donor.

I think it would be good to know how many others would actually pony up and at what kind of $$$? I'd assume $350-550.

I'll be the first to volunteer. @cbioffroadfab, how many would need to play for you guys to make one for the masses?
