Depends since there's different kinds of trouble you can get into with water. A swift current doesn't have to be too deep to push you downstream so that can be trouble. You can also potentially get water seeping in through your doors which isn't fun to clean out.

If you're talking about hydrolocking, the air intake is just above your passenger side front wheel. Of course you can also do bad things in shallower water if you enter or go through it too fast like this idiot found out...

 
Snorkel Seen Today

Was walking and saw this snorkel today on a L/C Prado. Thought it looked functional, really liking how it curls back. What do you think?

Right on.

Our flight was diverted there due to weather at Leatherneck, and spent a week waiting on another out. That was after my platoon got into a bit of trouble attempting to "allocate" five or six MATVs to get us to Sangin. haha

It was nice looking at all of the 70 series that we don't have access to in the States.

I miss hearing the A10s making gun runs in the middle of the night. Stay safe!
 
Wow...other members here on KAF? Funny - we could have a T4R meet up right here. Too bad I have an LC here instead of my 4R.
 
I live in Calgary and would be down for splitting an order Intruder. I've been offroading my 4runner for over 3 years now and their have been some questionable water crossings. Getting tired of waiting for something to happen.

That really depends.

Snorkels are cool, but people forget to extend the breather tubes on their transmissions and t-cases. You get either of those to suck water and it's only a matter of time before you have a repair not covered by warranty.

Also, modern trucks have all sorts of electronics modules scattered about that may or may not be waterproofed (including sensors for airbags and seat belts).

You want a sweet-ass snorkel designed for our vehicles? Here's what you do:

Someone needs to get SOcalTRAIL and his beast out of the desert. Get him doing trails with serious water crossings. We don't want him floating away or anything; just enough to walk the line of fun & scary.

I have been thinking a lot about a snorkel recently and hope someone has something fabbed up soon. Preferably not the dino turd....
 
I think if someone colored matched it or was using it on a black runner it would look significantly better.

if you are willing to wait, we are working on importing these snorkels along with out FJ snorkels, Sequoia snorkels, and perhaps the 4th gen snorkels.

It will take 8-15 weeks to work out the details and get the products shipped to my shanghai factory.
