Snow (part two)

No snow was predicted and wouldn't you know it, this morning we got a 1/2" of snow. When I went to work the 4Runner was slipping and sliding on all the back roads. I was so proud of the 4Runner handling 5" of snow last week, well now it is like 1/2" of ice on the road. I can feel the tracton control working and the VSC and anti-lock brakes working.

Overall the SUV did OK, but it isn't quite as bullit proof as I have once thought. You know when it is like this the only people that get stuck are SUV's, becasue they are the only ones who think they can go out on the road.

I think I will go home early and play in the snow. Hey, 1/2" of snow is a lot if you live in Atlanta.

It is like 20 degrees here and no snow in site, maybe when it goes up to 30/40 we will get some snow

Cold in Atlanta

The high today was 26 degrees. That happened at midnight. It is now 20 degrees and it is going down to 7 degrees tonight. The winds are blowing 15 to 25 MPH. I hear parts of Florida will be freezing tonight. Probably not a good time to visit Disney World.

The 4Runner has the best heater in any of the cars I have owned. I thought having heated mirrors in the 4Runner was stupid. I don't think it is stupid any more.

Snow Storm

Here is a thread from another 4Runner site. It has pictures of the current snow storm up north. Some pictures are amazing. We have no snow at all here in Atlanta.

I don't want to hear that Peter! I'm hoping the 4runner will be great in snow. My current '95 quattro w/ blizzaks is an animal in anything under 8", and I don't want to step down! It has NO alphabet soup 'cept ABS, and with it's low COG, I regularly blow off my buddies 1 ton 4wd Chevy p/u in the snow. Some driving skill required, but I've got it, and self-induced semi-broadslides through corners in the snow are no problem (not to mention a blast). One has extreme confidence and surefootedness when driving this car in the snow. It is the ultimate AWD, and the fact that the '03 runner has a Torsen, drew me to it. But I guess ice is an altogether 'nother issue, and an Suv could never be whipped through corners like a car.
