We had snow in Georiga last week, but Atlanta got no snow. On Saturday our Family decided to take the 4Runner up North until we got some snow. We finally ended up in Robinsville, North Carolina deep in the Mountians and there was 5" of snow. My 11 year old son went sledding all day long.
This was the first time I had the 4Runner in snow. When I was going straight on a snow covered road I braked to see if it would go into a skid, it never did. I was trying to find out when my 4Runner would loose traction. I was able to spin the tires from a stop in 5" of snow, it still took off quite well. I went real slow and had no problems. On thing I did notice is when I got back in the 4Runner, I would knock my snow covered boots on the running boards and a ton of snow would fall from underneath.
On Sunday when coming home we saw a car skid out of control. It ended up-side down on a guard rail. I stopped the my 4Runner and went down to the car, not expecting anyone to be alive. I found the driver, a women, alive and was asking me to get her out. She was in her seat belt with a broke arm and the door was crushed. I said I could not get her out, but the Fire Department is coming. Meanwhile her dog, a BIG Pit Bull came back in the car and would not let me touch her. Also the car was running and another person helped me open the hood and bend it back. We cut a wire and the car stopped.
When the Fire Department came, they would not go near the car. 2 by-standers, now about 15 of us, got a rope and gently pulled out the dog. I hope she will be alright.
I got home safe, I drove very slow. Be careful out there, snow is nice to see, but roads can be bad.
