"Roll of film" as in camera film?
No I was talking about window film.

JK, yes. 35mm negative film. Maybe I'll bring some positive film, too. Film is not dead, guys. I have a DSLR but never use it.

I also listen to vinyl more than anything.

I'd listen to vinyl if anything I listened to actually came on it. So far as film goes though, that's pretty awesome if you're good at it. I prefer my 7D, spray and pray technique. 8 fps gets me some pretty neat action shots

i don't shoot film for action shots though. panoramas, landscapes, and portraits. if i had a real nice DSLR i'd probably shoot more, but digital just seems so robotic to me the whole "spray and pray" idea. i like the anticipation of whether or not a roll of film is going to come back in focus, too dark, too light, et cetera. that said, my many-year-old rebel just doesn't cut it anymore when it comes to digital. i think it's been dropped on its head too many times. my AE-1, XA and ultronic plastic camera do just fine. now i just gotta process the 11 rolls of film that have been sitting in my top drawer for the last year...

I used to shoot landscape more, but it's been awhile. I need to pick up a better wide angle. Probably going to order a 10-18 tomorrow and then start working on my composition more when we're out camping. It's harder for me to setup landscape shots because my son is always with me and so I've moved more towards action shots while we're out and about.

This was Lake Isabella when the fires were cooking up in the mountains behind Kernville back in August. Almost SOOC, I think I brought the exposure down a tad, but that was about it.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm pretty handy with a map and compass, as long as your AC is working I'll navigate for you!

I like that idea - maybe this thing could be a team effort rather than separate rigs lol
We could definitely get sponsors on some good parts if we talk to the right people.
a vinyl wrap company sponsor could do our custom graphics + company decals for the promotions and stuff.

If we were to decide to build a pre-runner style truck for this race, I could sponsor the team with off road bulge fenders because its the only thing our company makes for our trucks - but you get the point, together we could do much more (trying to get everyone motivated here - haha i hope its working)

Now, we just gotta put together a committee and decide on who gets to drive the damn thing !

What do you guys say we get a crew together and plan to do this in 2018? More than a few of you guys already have rigs prepped for something like this, and there's a few of us who will be at that point by then!

As long as we can survive the following there is nothing to worry about, this is straight from the baja4000 website - Questions ? Bamako Adventures

WHAT KIND OF DANGERS CAN WE EXPECT?

You can reduce all the risks and you prepare for dangerous situations, but there is one very important rule: in case of danger, you can only count on yourself.
Possible problems:

highway accidents in the US
getting shot at a Walmart in the US
mass shooting in the US
drive by shooting in Tijuana and La Paz
gang warfare in Tijuana and La Paz
imprisonment in Mexico
dehydrating in the desert
technical problems on the open road
accident and injury on the open road
accidents and injury away from inhabited areas
getting lost
running out of food or water
bandits or thieves in the desert
food-poisoning
sunstroke
corrupt Mexican police
long wait at the US/Mexican border
traffickers attaching drugs to your car with a magnet
dangerously driving Mexicans
speed bumps in Mexico
dangerously driving Baja 400 participants
sandstorms
nerves stretched to the breaking point
rattle snakes
scorpions
sharks

The company I work for can make graphics, decals, etc. They won't sponsor but they'll give us (me) good prices. I'm debating on buying the prerunner fenders/hood for my 2nd gen.

I'd be down to ride shotgun for 2018. All I need is a roll of film for each day and plenty of beers.

Well it looks as though we almost have a full team then ..

I'm in for 2018.

Miah do you have a license plate light? I've got a place to put my license plate on my tiregate but I don't have a light for it yet.

Yeah I have the tiregate license plate relocation kit which includes the wiring, light , contacts, instructions etc. it's still new in the box if you want it. You can see it on their site

we discontinued the ones for the 2gens and currently only offer it for the 4th gens.
