So Cal 4Runner BS Thread

Hey all, new to the 4Runner world. I want to find some easy trails to take it on as I’ve never really done any off-roading. I have an SR5 premium 4x4, but still have the stock tires and suspension. Is there any guide to some SoCal(I’m in north county SD) trails I can look at that my virgin 4R can make it through easily. I threw up an alley oop to my wife about upgrading my suspension and tires but she Mutumbo’d that one on me so I need to keep it easy.

If nothing else, you should persuade her to let you upgrade the tires. Stock tires are going to be your biggest limiting factor.

Tell her getting towed once from out in the middle of nowhere is more expensive than a set of tires.

Oh, and I did most of the Anza with my stock tires.

I’m in Vista. I already lost one tire to a freak scissor in the tire. I got a $60 used tire for my spare. One more tire goes and I get to upgrade regardless.

Hey I’m a newbie like you. So far I’ve gotten chance to go up to Julian when it was snowing and this past weekend I was able to go to Anza Borrego. It was lots of fun, my kids wanted to head over to the mud caves which we were able to find. I agree with the recommendation on trying to get new set of tires. You can sell your existing set to offset the cost. Here are a few photos ..

Hey I’m a newbie like you. So far I’ve gotten chance to go up to Julian when it was snowing and this past weekend I was able to go to Anza Borrego. It was lots of fun, my kids wanted to head over to the mud caves which we were able to find. I agree with the recommendation on trying to get new set of tires. You can sell your existing set to offset the cost. Here are a few photos ..

took a trip out to carrizo last weekend.

After my Baja trip, I've come to love having a roof box. Overnight gear goes up top.

Tired dog after too much play. We saw a rattler on the first day so he was kept on a cable all weekend just in case.

Meant to take colorful flower pictures, but the superbloom was much more super two years ago (or maybe we just went too late after peak superbloom).
