So I have a Sensor near my parking brake?

I'm trying to figure out what it is.
I have 2018 TRD Off Road. I've read the manuals and cannot find anything. It looks like it could be a small light and there is a button/reset under it, but it's very small?

Also if anyone has installed a brake controller in an out of the way place, please point me to some good articles/how tos.

Did you buy your 4R brand new or used?
I could be wrong, but it doesn’t look factory to me.
Looks like it was installed “after the fact”. Still can’t figure out what it would be for though.
What happens when you push the button, anything light up?

Brand New, no upgrades that I know of or of any the dealer disclosed. No lights, even when started. I pushed the button and nothing, and even held the button and nothing. Could it be alarm light or alarm override? Most alarm overrides are hidden though...

It appears to me to be one of the security/alarm systems that some dealers install.

I found one on my 2016 after reading about the Karr security systems on this forum. I returned to the dealer to have it removed and got a copy of the work order in case I developed electrical problems secondary to how some installers hack into the ignition wiring. Some owners have had problems after removal, however since 2016 I have not had any problems.

You might be able to find more info on this forum about the Karr systems as there were several threads about it a couple of years ago. Good Luck !

So was my 2016. What irritated me was that I had to discover the crappy Karr system myself. It looked very much like what you have.

You should go back to your dealer for removal. Hope it works out for you.

I hate dealers that pull this kinda crap. Some of the dealers around here pre-install those center brake light flashers and charge $350 for the trouble. It’s preinstalled during pre-delivery and you have no option to avoid it. I hate the idea of a dealer hacking into the electronics. I specifically bought mine from a dealer that didn’t do any of that crap.

That's some sort of aftermarket crap added by the dealer. Make them remove it, replace any harnesses they hacked into and replace that trim.

When you're done with that, make sure you keep the WO that shows them removing it if you have issues in the future and file a complaint with whatever state agency licenses those clowns.
