...and I got that $$ to spend. I don't want to spend it all though. I planned on spending it on the 99 Wrangler but I wanted to see what you guys would spend it on if you had a stock 99 4runner Limited. What would be the first thing you buy for it? Something useful and worth the $$, not stuff like a stereo system, light bars, etc. I'm big into off roading.

I'm already installing Bilstein 4600's and 265/75/16 AT51's so no shocks or tires.

Sonoran Steel 1.2 kit. It's funny that you had an XJ as well. I also have one with a 4.5" lift.

You'd probably get more bang for your buck spending it on the wrangler. I just did a small lift and maintenance for my 01 that is my DD and my 87 wrangler is my wheeler that requires constant attention.......well my 99 is also being built up but that's my own issue.
 
I forgot to mention that this is my daily driver and I don't want to lift it or add too much weight.

Armor is limited to front and rear bumpers.

My limited already has the rear locker.

NO STEREO!!! I'm deaf so it's useless. :pound:

I want to. I just bought a full brake line/hose/wheel cylinder package to replace the whole system since it popped a line on the frame rail and has no brakes.

It needs a new gas tank skid (rotted all the way across) and if I do that I have to do the pump while I'm at it.

It does not have a winch and that bothers the hell out of me. I never owned a jeep without a winch!

I want a dirtworx rear bumper tire carrier, which is awesome, but it's not high on the priority list.

I've got a list of like 10 things that my wrangler needs done before May. I'd put a winch on the jeep and the bumper if you felt like it otherwise I'd use whatever money is left for some maintenance.

I see what you did there.

Well, if it already has a locker- I guess I'd have to recommend replacing both lower ball joints(OEM only on these!), and doing the timing belt and water pump.
If those don't sound like enough fun, the Tundra 231mm brake swap is a pretty popular upgrade.

There's a little problem with stuff like that. The previous owner gave me detailed service records from 1999 to current where it shows he took it in every 5k miles and had everything serviced. Ball joints, timing chain, radiator, all fluids, A/C, etc you name it he had it serviced. :)

I just inspected the ball joints while installing struts and they were tight and smooth. I might swap em out this summer just for a peace of mind.

The picture was from a few years back. I sold it just to get back the $$ from the tires (not swampers) and all the maintenance I did this past summer. The winch was a cheap XRC8 so I didn't care about that. The jeep had rusted rockers, roof, and the entire long arm system was UPS brown. It had 123k miles on it. It was time.
