So is there an aftermarket spring that's about the same as a '99 OE?

Or should I just buy '99 Toyota springs? I'm trying to maintain a mostly stock height and ride quality. I don't mind going up just a little bit, but not more than a '99.

I'll be doing new shocks soon and figure I might as well replace the 119,000 mile springs while I'm under there.

So many shock choices, too... what's closest to OE ride quality? Tokico?

I think OME 906s are pretty close in height to the 99s, and Bilstein HDs are a common setup for people trying to maintain stock height and ride.

From what I've read, the OME 906s are a bit stiff, though. Is this not the case?

I don't have them personally; I have the 890's. So I can only comment based on what I've read. I don't recall hearing people complaining about a stiffer ride, but people usually go for 906s when they have sag and/or frequently load the back, so it would make sense. But even if it is a bit rougher, it won't break your back or anything. It'll probably hardly even be noticeable compared to if you were to change shocks, I'd think.
But don't take my word for it. I'm sure someone who has them and knows more will chime in.

I had OME 881s with no spacer up front and OME 906s in the rear and it wasn't too stiff. Prob sits about .5" taller than 99 talls with that set up.

The Nakamichi is (knock on wood) still going strong :music:

The PP springs have been really great. Most everyone that comments on my truck asks if it's at the stock height - so I'd say it's closer to 1"

Nice. I wondered if any of the "old guard" was still around. I wandered over to 4x4 Wire when I was thinking about buying another 4Runner a few months ago and it was like a ghost town.

I just ordered the OME 906's to go with Bilstein HD's. My 99 Ltd is a family hauler and cottage runner (4.5 hour drive each way). It drops a couple inches in the rear every time I load it up. Also want to do a bit of towing so it seemed like the best option!
I'll give some feedback in a week or so when I get them in but I don't imagine they'll feel to stiff. The stock rears feel quite soft to me.
