That should work to get them out. It has a few adapters extra than my kit so maybe they will help. I used the press and one adapter, but had to use a socket and a little rigging.

Getting them out is the easy part. Getting them back in is another story. Those will make your life a bit easier.

Just an FYI, you can rent a ball joint press from Autozone. When you return it they'll refund the deposit so it's actually free. Useful tool to have none the less.

I rented one years ago and just held on to it. I dunno if they still have that written in their policy but you have the choice to bring the tool back or keep it.

The one I have is a full size one in a red box. I think the one in my link is smaller and will fit in the wheel wells better. I wouldn't mind having another one to loan out to friends and family.

The policy is that way still. They charge you the price of a brand new one for a deposit, and when returned you get that back.
 
One thing that I did that helped immensely was to cut the stud off the top first before using the ball joint press with a large socket.



 
I used the O'Reilly's kit with the 4wd kit and it was pretty easy. If you jack up the body so the axle droops you will have just enough clearance to use the big clamp and clear the fender....barely.
I did not cut the stud off the BJ which I believe will net you a little more clearance. Don't forget to tie or bungle the knuckle so it does fall and pull your cv out.

Rented the same exact thing. I wouldn't have been able to do it without a beaker bar. Also, don't forget to remove the snap ring.:nerd:
