The symptoms sound familar- extreme lack of power

Thanks for the alternate ideas to swapping out my 3.0. I will definitely check out the vacuum hoses and try the liquid head gasket sealer. Past that seems like I'm better of finding a better mechanic and do a complete motor re-build vs motor swap.

I didn't see what type of spark plugs you have installed.

ONLY USE OEM copper plugs. The 3.0 absolutely will run like crap if you install any of the new high-tech iridium plugs. (don't ask me how I know. I found out the hard way). Of course - make sure they are properly gap'd. Use a little (very little) anti-seize on the threads, and some Dielectric grease on the inside of the spark plug wires.

Do a search on how to check, and set your timing.
