so as those of you who helped me with my tire question know, i am new to this whole thing [trucks, modification, offroading..]. i was just looking up lift/tire laws for MA for future planning, and i found that this is the rule: [wheelbase x wheel track] / 2200. so then i went and found my vehicle specs here: 1995 4Runner Specs, and did the math, and came up with 2.64xxxxxx"....not good news... seeing as how i want to do a 3" lift and 33" tires.. stock tires for mine were the ~28"... and then i've found different sites saying that that calculation [2.64" for me] is for suspension and tire upgrade seperately [as in, i could go up five inches all together, but not one or the other], and i've found places saying that the 2.64 is for suspension AND tires all together.... so this just really sucks either way. but i'm wondering if anyone who knows anything about the MA laws or lives in massachusetts might be able to clarify anything at all for me? does anyone know what i CAN do? or did i somehow calculate wrong? i converted the mm from the specs site into inches before calculating..

i was stationed there for a while with my 9 inch lifted K5 BLazer sitting on 44inch tires never got pulled over once.
It all depends if your local cops will inforce that law, get the 2.5 inch ball joint lift with mathcing add a leaf, you can clear 33x12.50 15 with this.

Just do it and if you get pulled over be respectful, and tell him you didnt know. If you get repair and report just stick your stock wheels with little tires and then go to the cop shop and tell them you fixed it, then go home and put your big tires back on.

stop by your police station and ask to speak to a patrol officer and ask him if he would pull you over for being one inch to high. he should tell yes or no that would give you a better idea of how the police would look at it.

do the 2.5 lift kit then the inspection and after that put the big tires on.

I agree, do your lift then get some low pro tire on salvage yard rims for inspection day. You can also unload your torsion bars on inspection day and drive in there dragging the frame!

yeah, i'm thinking i'll just do the 3" lift and keep my stock tires for inspection. i'm not the least bit worried about getting pulled over, and i don't think they're gonna fail inspection for less than half an inch... though maybe i should just do the 2.5".. dunno, not gonna be for a while though. i did the math for my stepfather's jeep, and his "allotted" lift increase thing was 2.68 [mine 2.64, so same thing], and he has a four inch lift with like two or three inch bigger tires than stock.. and he's passed inspection, without changing things out. so i think i'll be good
