So, went to Wal Mart tonight

Thought I was going to get a set of Goodyear Authorities put on. No. I told him what size I wanted and he immediately looked inside my door and saw it called for 265/70/16, I was going to get the 275/75/16. He said he couldn't install that size, I said OK. I would just buy them and get them put on somewhere else, no big deal. While they were getting them off the shelf I had him check on the warranty. Apparently, since they are Wal Mart specific tires, Goodyear does not warranty them at all, Wal Mart does. That's what the lady at Goodyear told me when I called and talked to her. Wal Mart said if they do not install them there then they don't have a warranty from them either. Basically, I would be paying $700 for some tires and would have absolutely no warranty. WTF I made them put them back on the shelf.

Then I went to Sam's club. Figured what the hell, I would go ahead and get the BFG AT KO's since that was next in line to being my fav. The 265/75/16 is $190 per tire so I was thinking the 265/70/16 would be a few dollars cheaper, boy was I wrong. $205 a damn tire. I have a buddy that can get me some Terra Grapplers for $680 or some Maxxis Big Horns for around 600. I think I will go that route.

Hell, I was expecting around a grand for the tires, mounting, etc. I really like the look of the wranglers but I will not buy a tire without some kind of warranty.

I'd much rather have a tire that could perform as opposed to one that looks good.

The Duratracs kick the TerraGrapplers ass in everything, but cornering and even then it's not by much.

But yes, I agree with that statement in general.

I got my BFG A/T'S for $880 out the door.

265/70/16's were a little bit more pricey but is worth it. America's tire is the way to go. Costco wanted over $1k for it out to door.. I could have went with 265/75/16 since is more common than the 265/70/16 hence why the 75's are cheaper than the 70's.

One thing, don't go with Toyo A/T's. I had 2 sets and they wore out alot quicker than my Bridgestone's or BFG.

I have a friend that swears by the Cooper STT. I personally like the BFG better but I think the Coopers are growing on me.

STT looks better than the BFG KM2, but not by that much. The KM2 will last longer.

Haha sheeeeeesh! there a ton of good tires out there. To the OP, sorry for all the garbage you went through, one would think it wouldnt think its that hard for a damn set of tires! Atleast you got to see some WAL*CREATURES had to have made it worth it. = )

Dude, you are going to love those tires! They are a little on the skinny side for 285s but I like that about them.

Nice i'm actually happy to hear that they run a lil skinny. Ive read nothin but great reviews, so we will see. Im wondering what kind of wear mileage ill get out of them. And ive heard their great in the snow. Looked like a good compromise tread design wise.
