that was my first thought, after months of research on the car (I was looking for an 04ish model) I think the lotus would be more fun to own and cheaper to maintain being a Toyota-ish

My 997 has been very reliable. Other than PDK fluid, routine maintenance gets done in my garage. No other repairs necessary. Also, consider depreciation - it's a much larger component of overall ownership cost than maintenance.

I wish I had looked into the 996/997 cabrio route before buying my M3 then 135i. Maybe even a Boxter S. For price/HP, though, you can't beat a 135i.

135i is a great choice. It's one of the last of the truly great driving BMWs before they all went to electric (numb) power steering.

Yeah it’s definitely Not something you would want to take a kid in and out of. I really enjoy it but the chance to turn it in early, get a 4Runner and save a bunch of money came up so i figured it’s worth a try.

Thank you. Seems the grill is hit or miss for people. I'm excited to have two great Yotas in the family. Considered the new camry, but being they're only FWD, decided that wasn't right for me.
