So, who is using a cordless ratchet on their 4runner?

I have the 1/4 one and it is great in tight spaces. The new fuel ones are bigger and while having more torque, the bigger size makes it harder to work in an engine bay with one.

If you want more breakaway power but in a small package, this is what I would buy, getting batteries and a charger seperately:

Thanks. I have a cordless DeWalt impact, so I was just needing a smaller lightweight tool to zip out bolts after I break them free if they are on real tight. Yep, sent a PM to Tim.

If you don't have any of the Milwaukee m12 tools, it is a good buy. My favorite in the line up has to be the cordless soldering iron. :bravo:

We use one at Toytec....we love it. It doesn't break loose certain bolts, and won't torque...but it will do the brute annoying turns with ease.

I got the M12 3/8 non fuel ratchet last year. I'm a big fan and have been using it a ton working on the 4runner, cars, and motorcycles.

I have a DeWalt cordless impact wrench that is amazing. I was looking for something to speed things up and make life a little easier on the smaller stuff. I realize I may have to break free most bolts, but this will be make it easy to zip them out. I have to do a valve cover gasket job soon and thinking this will be sweet to get those bolts out fast, as an example.

As an added bonus to the Milwaukee in comparison to the Harbor Freight, the Milwaukee has a light. When working in an engine bay, one grows to count on it.

Absolutely no problem. It is great to carry on a road trip or to the junk yard too. I got mine on sale around Christmas from Home Depot. It came with a full set of impact sockets. It made ball joint replacement a piece of cake.

I have one of these, but use it very rarely, only when there is limited access. It has low torque, so it's really only good after the bolt has been broken away (not counting valve cover bolts and similar). You can turn it manually obviously.

My real go-to cordless tools are my brushless 18V Makita set - driver drill for light stuff (screws, interior); impact driver for most other fasteners; and the impact wrench that's good to over 200 ft-lbs. They make quick work of removing fasteners, and the batteries last forever.

It's kinda sad that my nice Snap-On ratchets are sitting in the drawer most of the time because of these cordless tools, so I try to be nice to them and take them out when it's time to tighten the fasteners.

That looks nice! It's similar to the Milwaukee ratchet being discussed above, except for the 1/4" recess vs the 3/8" square drive. I chose the Milwaukee because I tend to use the sockets more than bits, but I can see this being very useful too!

I have too many ratchets myself, 25 to 30 Snap On alone, that never get used. Bought many of them when the ex wife and I were on the road to splitsville. Her landshark lawyer attempted to pry them from my ownership but failed. :thumb:

There is merit however to hand snug tightness for many different bolts.
