Curious. As this kit just got released. Current test vehicles are Tacomas, but the 3rd gen runner front chassis is identical. These are for leaf springs, so its the first reasonably priced kit out there. I need a guinea pig with some $$$ to allow us to play with your 4runner to get this kit installed. We would be talking a highly reduced labor rate and you would have to cover parts.

We are located in Northern Colorado, so if anyone is interested please PM me. or call me at 970-420-4198

Someday. Someday. But I'm going to go for a coil option instead, I believe. Good luck! Someone is in for a great deal.

I'll pay the shipping to send my truck out to you and you pay for the rest and then I'll just fly out to pick it up when its done and drive it back :bigok:

Addicted,

Bottom line.. what would you ESTIMATE the total cost would be? My '97 needs front end work anyway (new tie rod ends, the pass front lower shock bushing is shot, needs new brakes on the front, bushings are worn all around, etc., etc. + the rear springs are sagging... yeah, not major, but still $1500 or so to freshen it up so it rolls like it did off the assembly line.)

It's got almost 170k on it, and I've been considering selling it to my brother cheap for 4-4.5k. I'd let you chop it up if the price is right, and I'm right down the road (I-25).. I could drive up, visit family in Ft. Collins, do some ice fishing, and fly back. I could drive the '01 or the Supra in the meantime.

Just curious at this point, but a general estimate might help you lock in a taker... that is if you don't bust this out on Big John's ride first, since I'm sure he'll get not only the the highly reduced labor rate, but also the buddy hook-up.

Big John is my shop manager. His "buddy hookup" is more or less "implied". :crybaby:

Give me a call tomorrow as I would like to talk about it with you. This is one of those things that is very hard to cover over Email/PM

Not trying to dig up to old of a thread, but I have searched and can't find anything where this kit was used on a 4runner. Do you have a link or does it not work on runners?

That's what I'm thinking. I would just like to see one done to help me decide which way to go. It's the next step in the build, engine is done, TRD supercharger is working good. Time for the SAS.

The frame up front is identical to a Tacoma other than the front frame horn length. But, that wouldn't change the install itself at all.

FWIW, we are offering a full 10% off of TG's retail price right now too.

Any particular reason you know of why people are not using this kit on 4runners? I can't seem to find even one.

Mainly, because of the cost of the kit. That and you will get A LOT of lift. The 3" springs will net you around 8 total inches of lift. It will clear 37s easily.

And, you will not be able to keep the rear factory 4-link suspension intact. Too much lift, and too severe of angles. So, you will need to either convert it to leaf springs as well, or build a custom suspension in the rear.

Got ya, makes more sense now. Thanks for all the help and info, want to do it right the first time. Sounds like way to much lift for the rocks here in AZ. Dont want to make it to top heavy. But the IFS just doesnt have quite enough flex.

Linking it is the only way to keep it low. My 2000 worked great. Cleared 37s with only 4.5" of lift.
