So you don't want doors to lock automatically?

I hated it! Someone trying to get in after its running or forgot something in the house...it just wasn't for me. So i found the solution, the rs3000 Vehicle Intrusion Program. Thats the alarm the 3rd gens came with! And here is a link to the entire instruction manual: RS3000 Toyota Vehicle Intrusion Protection

My doors only lock if you lock them while the doors are closed...while the car is running that is. They don't lock automatically.

I hate auto-locking doors, unless they automatically unlock when you put the car into Park (some do.)

Is the auto-locking feature something that is found on the Limited models? My 99 SR5 does not have it.

Mine auto locks when you start the truck as long as all the doors are closed & auto unlocks when you turn the truck off.

2001 SR5. No auto lock and yes that is an annoying feature unless it unlocks when you put it in park. That I like.

98 ltd and the doors are not locked/unlcoked automatically and it came like this. No mods done.

If I'm inside the vehicle and start mine they all lock . But quite a few times in the morning I'll open the door and reach in and start the truck and the doors will lock then quickly unlock . Must have something to do with weight in the drivers seat.

Anyone know what factory box ( and where is it ? ) controlled this in 1998 ? I know it's not the RS3000.

Not a driver's seat weight sensor.I believe its a sensor in the ignition that senses the key. They don't want you to arrive somewhere, and forget to take the key out of the ignition, and get out and lock the car behind you, thus locking the keys in the car. if you do open the door and get out while the key is still in the ignition, and you hit the lock button, the locks will go down and then right back up. Also if you do this and push the individual lock down, it will push your finger right back up(Startled me on several occasions).

What has the key got to do with me being in or out of the vehicle ? If I roll the window down and reach in and start the truck the locks will pop down and then quickly back up . If I'm IN the vehicle the locks stay down .

I hate auto-locking/unlocking doors, whether it occurs when shifted into drive/park, or at a certain speed. I used the programming steps to disable this years ago on my 2000 4Runner. It was also one of the first things I did when I got my 2008 4Runner.

I lock the doors when I want them locked, and unlock them when I want them unlocked.

Correct , I did say that . Either way though , my locks will not lock unless I'm seated .
