SoCal Meet-up?

Roger That!

Okay, looks like the best meet spot is the San Gorgonio Ranger Station at the base of the 38. Everyone participating in this huge event should be at the station no later than 9AM so we can finish by early afternoon. Bring your family along, it should be very scenic and fun. Bring recovery gear if you have it, handheld walkie talkies or CB radio, and it never hurts to pack a lunch.

I put together a little map on google that is pretty close to the route Pikeman will be leading us on.

I am slowly making progress on my truck. I have a few stubborn nuts/bolts slowing me down but progress.

I should be at the Ranger station by 830 for those arriving early. Please be there by 9 since we we hold a safety/ trail meeting promptly at 9 and move out right after.

well lets figure comms out. i am picking up a cb today at some point. don't have a hamm.
question is what chan. will we all be using? it's been many years since i keyed up and at the time had a cobra 29ltd classic with a 500w pusher behind it so i could reach out. just gonna pick up a cheap one at kmart or radio shack for the time being.

Hey Donnie, what part of OC you coming from?

Looking forward to this. I don't have a cb but if I start driving off a cliff or something feel free to shout at me. Is anyone camping up there Saturday night? I don't know the camp spots in the area but would be up for it if anyone else is.

I live near Seal Beach, I would like to meet up maybe near El Dorado Park but early like at 7am, so we have plenty of time to cruise to the meet spot. It's up to you 810Moto. :D

I think I'll be able to make it out. Is sliders a must for these trails? I don't have any armor.

Well, it never hurts to have protection, but this is an easy/moderate run, no rock climbing that I know of. Based off of the pictures of the trail I've seen, there's plenty of room, you'll be fine.

Donny, I am just up 7th just east of redondo. shoot me an email to [email protected] and we will get contact info. We could meet up at the Ralphs on 7th and Belflower....thats about half way for us and we can jump on the 22 or 605 from there and maybe catch up with some others on the freeway from there.

I did pick up a CB tonight from a guy in alhambra for super dirt cheap, came with a wilson ant. as well. this thing is brand new in the box. cobra 119, gonna hook it up tomorrow.

Any 4th gen guys interested in one of my skids? i can bring a few so you can take a look at some point during the day. special price on meet up days.

How cool that there seems to be so many in my area. I'm in Lakewood but need to drop off the little one (<1 year old) at his granmda's in bellflower. I would caravan but I might be picking up a buddy on the way in corona so I probably won't go along.

1st note:
So I have done some searching and I THINK I have found the actuall address of the ranger station. the map on google shows this address.

34701 Mill Creek Road
Mentone, CA 92359-9761

if this is wrong, someone please correct it. Just easier to pop in an address to the gps and go straight there vs hoping we all find each other.

2nd note:
Those running a CB the channel noted in a post somewhere on here says CH13 so that is what I will be tuned to all the way up.

I will be leaving my house at about 6:30 and probably meeting up with Donny down the street. Those around the area of Long Beach, Seal Beach, Lakewood, Bellflower, Cerritos, Cypress and others close by, lets all try to meet somewhere on the Hwy while mobile and head on out.

What is everyones starting point?

I was just referring to the Motorola FRS/GMRS handhelds we used last time. I will have my "35 mile" handhelds on channel 13-0 like last time. Not sure about CB freqs.

well that certainly clears that one up. i have not been on a cb since before i went in the service so i have no idea how crowded they are out here. open to options.

How about ch. 13 for the CB's as well so as to not confuse things? If it's already in use we can switch channels when we get there.
