Socal wheelers, need advice

Ok, so heres the rough schedule for right now, I need some help planning the last leg of my trip

So, I plan to Arrive in Lancaster, Ca to see my Aunt and Grandmother on Wed, April 6th sometime in the afternoon. I plan on at least staying until the following afternoon Apr 7th,

when I leave there, I had thoughts of going to Pismo Beach to camp on the beach in my Runner and then realized its about 3.5 hours away and you guys all seem to be south of that. I would still love to do that, but didnt want to be the only one, especially as Ive never wheeled on sand and wouldnt want to get stuck out there alone.

If not thats still cool the goal was to get a day of wheeling in with you guys, and I assume it will be closer to the LA area.
Also I will need to find a place to park on Thurs night, where would I camp (sleep in the runner) for free near you guys?

and then Friday Apr 8th anyone free to wheel? I want to do something fun, but not too hard cuz Id like to avoid any damage that would keep me from driving home to Colorado.
Id also like to know where these trails are, my next stop after 4wheeling will probably be Vegas,

so I think thats enough info

Here is one idea miller jeep trail - Google Search

Miller jeep trail is @ gorman/hungry valley orv park you could stay in Lancaster and just meet up out there.

Or you could park in my driveway and we could cruise out and run pilot rock with brian, Jason, and anyone that. Can get that Friday of work. And pilot rock is right off the freeway on your way to Vegas.

im about an hour south of lancaster. If you hear of Victorville or the high desert thats where i live. Im not sure how hard of stuff you want to run? Im sure we could wheel out in calico (about 30 mins from lancaster) or in Cougar buttes, where bullfrog trail is, ( maybe an hour and 15 mins away)

there is lots of desert wheeling close. and in april we could actually head up and run john bull or something in big bear.

Im free on fridays always

I'm in also. I just had this discussion with toytruck when he was over picking up an antenna mouth today. There are plenty of fun trails out there that don't require your truck to be fully amored. I have even ran trails with COB and had a blast following his 2WD 4cyl around. That thing rocks.

I'm in also. I just had this discussion with toytruck when he was over picking up an antenna mouth today. There are plenty of fun trails out there that don't require your truck to be fully amored. I have even ran trails with COB and had a blast following his 2WD 4cyl around. That thing rocks.

I think Im liking option 2 also. Im thinking I may cruise into LA on Wed evening of the 6th, Im trying to get tickets to Conan on Thurs the 7th (anyone else interested let me know asap, they go quick and I need to know how many to request) and will be trying to get together with a friend.

and then definitely wheeling with anyone that wants to go on Friday the 8th, I checked out the trails and Pilot Rock seems like a good one, I like its location on the way out to Vegas.

If I do come into town on the 6th, anyone know of any camping places on/near the beach near LA? I think Pismo is the only place you can drive onto the beach, but anyone know of anything near it?
obviously I know how to use google, but Im looking for places you guys may have been or even places you saw and then told yourself to check out eventually.

Im liking the idea about Pilot Rock though, anyone else with any votes on trails that would be good to try? Right now that seems like frontrunner.
is that one that PBcolt and others could roll with us on? definitely want everyone to be able to go. I got plenty of hard trails to hit in Colorado, so this is more about having fun wheeling with my T4R peeps in Socal

I really liked the trails we hit when I got to go to the mountains with jay and brian, I'm down to go again but idk since there's some water crossings and stuff now.

I wanna see some snow though.

its all good, I appreciate the thought... Im kinda trying to find a place to "camp/park" near the beach for at least one night on my trip depending on when I come into LA, Ill prob take up drifter and use his driveway on Thurs night to get a good start on Friday wheeling unless there is a good place to camp on Thurs night near the trail??? anyone up for something like that?
Maybe camp near Silverwood lake? .

Im kinda leaning toward coming in on Thurs noonish now if I get Conan tickets, rather than Wed, I wanted an extra day up in the Bay area and Sac with my fam and friends up there.

I built this sleeping platform and stuff for a reason and it will be a great time to test it out before our spring moab trip in April.

You might check our bolsa chica state beach its about 20 min from my place. It's not free I'm not sure about camping. But it id the only beach around that I know of that has fire pits.

Bolsa Chica is nice but you'll have to sleep in your truck 'cause it's a RV spot. Check out Point Mugu, it's drive up but the views are great and you can camp 30 feet from the shore. Here's some pictures from our last visit...

i worked at silverwood lake for 4 years!. there is over 100 campsites, and there is a free campground just past the state park. from silverwood you have cleghorn which goes west, and pilot rock which goes east. Pilot is better because you can hit up other stuff after.
