oh, I thought the trailhead for Pilot rock was right at Lake Arrowhead?
"This route covers the most scenic part of F. S. Road 2N33, which actually starts farther east from a point northwest of Lake Arrowhead. The starting point described here is convenient for anyone completing Cleghorn Ridge. You can also run this route in the opposite direction and continue east on F.S. 2N33 to Pilot Rock near the Pinnacles."

Where exactly is the trailhead? and someone said it ends right off the Freeway to Vegas? Is that right?
EDIT: ok, looking at google maps, it looks like the Trailhead for Pilot Rock is near Silverwood Lake. Is that right?

Yeah the trailhead starts at Silverwood and ends near Lake Arrowhead (you hit Hwy. 173 at the end). We could start in Arrowhead and run the trail backwards if you wanted to camp up here, but I think most people would agree that the Pilot Rock trail isn't as good if you run it backwards. There are also 2 Pilot Rock trails - 2N33 is just a fire road, 2N17X is the one we would run.

I am definitely wanting to camp on the beach, so Ill be bringing a small tent for that one night.
what is a good cb channel for that area? if you have one of course?

I won't be heading out to camp on Thurs. till about 5 or 6 pm. I have an interview to do that day, so maybe someone (Jason would probably be the best since he lives close) can secure a camping spot near Silverwood beforehand. I got everyone's cell #s so I'll just call you guys when I'm ready to head out.

I might be able to swing by the beach and hang out with ya for a while. Just so you know, the beach ur going to might reference Malibu but its not Malibu Beach. Its in the "city" of Malibu but some ways from Malibu Beach where all the surfing happens.
I'll bring firewood if I can make it. Will know closer to the day. Waiting on my gears and locker to arrive in next 10 days so not sure whether I'll be on the road or under the truck LOL

Thats awesome, so far its you me and Socal for the beach, Im perfectly fine with wherever it is... I just want to put up a tent on the beach. (I wish I had time to go north and park on the beach but I dont) I lived in Cali for 12 years and never took advantage of it. I will on this visit! I just need some more specific instructions on what beach and how to exactly get there.
oh, thursday night guys... same thing, silverwood by Pilot rock, I just will need some more specific instructions on where to go, when I get close most of you have my cell and I have a CB what channel we want to be on?? 4? 7?

There is some great mountain biking in Sycamore canyon if you are into that kind of thing.

man.. I would love to meet at pismo, but I just dont have time to stop there between Sactown and Lancaster...
I have to see my grandma at the nursing home on Wed and then Ill camp on the beach, then I have tickets to Conan on Thurs at 2:30p... I just dont see how I can fit Pismo in.. although I want to!!!

if you plan on camping up here (silverwood area) on thursday night i will not be able to get a spot before you. I have a lab until 9 PM. but either way im sure it wont be too busy
