SOcalTrail's 2011 Trail Edition Beast Build Thread

27,500 Lumens…..

Vision-X Xmitter Prime Xtreme 30" 5-Watt Light bar up on the rack. To say it is a beast is a bit of an understatement… Overkill is more like it. I'm combining this bar (75% spot optics / 25% flood) with a 18" Xmitter Prime Bar that is 100% flood optics which will replace the two Vision-X 50 watt HID's I have in there now. Desert trip next weekend for Easter. Stoked!!!

Night shots hopefully later this week as my schedule permits.

nice trip to yosemite. i live like 1.5 hrs from there. i went about a month ago expecting to drive in snow but its been pretty weak this year

Ok so here is my question....Does the bar height fit below the top bar of the GOBI? I most likely am going to get a 40" to put on mine then replace the Rigid with a 21" that is already on my front bumper. Roof will be spot and the bumper will be flood.

Looks good too!

Thanks man. I have it sitting right in front of the top rail on the rack. On its own, the light will barely slide between the top and bottom of the rack, but with the little mounts, it sits too high to sit between, so I have it slightly forward. It fits up there great!


Here are some other pics.

30" Xmitter Prime Xtreme up top, 18" Xmitter Prime Xtreme in the grill. The 18" is 100% 40 degree flood optics, does an awesome job of "filling" any voids with light. The monster on the roof is, well, insane. My friends thing I need help…. hahaha. combined, those two lights put out over 42,000 lumens!!!!!

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment. I kind of had a realization this last weekend of how much work actually went into this truck, its not right, haha.

The grill was a one-off custom deal I made out of some stainless mesh and an aluminum surround.

I measured before I ordered the 30" bar and don't think the 40" bar would look right. You only have a couple inches on either side of the 30" bar before the top tube of the roof rack takes that downward bend so it you did put a 40 incher up there, you would have to space it even further forward. I guess it could fit... here are some pics to show what I'm describing. The 40" bar is another 5" longer on each side.

Yeah that is my concern. But I really do want to go with the 40". I don't mind if the bar is sitting further forward on the rack. How much play is there to move it forward? Guess I will just have to try and fit it.

Do it! You can never have too much light IMO.

I had to drill the holes for the little mounting feet because the holes in the Gobi rack didn't line up so you could definitely drill em a bit further forward and fit that guy up there.

You will need a whole other aux. bat and alternator upgrade for that 40 incher, hahahah but it will be truly incredible. I might have forced it in there if I wasn't running the 18" in the grill area already.

Either way, you will be blown away by the output of these things. The 5Watt bars are night and day different when compared to the 3 Watt bars.

Did you upgrade your alternator? What did you switch to? You are the first that I heard of that upgraded the alternator.

Haha, no. That was just a joke for Mike. I've just done the aux bat. I think these trucks come with some pretty heft alternators already, if I'm not mistaken, they are 150amp???? Or something close to that....

I don't think I missed it but I could be wrong. Do you have any pics with that new 18" bar setup that you mentioned in the bracket thread? Wouldn't mind seeing the whole setup 18" and 30". I'm considering the xmitter prime low profile 24" 5 watt led bar, since I like a lower profile look but it's only 8875 lumens (not that that isn't enough already). Just want to see if I could be swayed to bigger and brighter lol
