Softex Seats

I have a 21 Off Road with Softex seats. Has anyone ever had their Softex replaced with a material? Not a seat cover but actually removing the Softex and using another material (Cloth is my preference). I'm in CA so if someone knows of a place that would be great.

Have you priced cloth seat covering from Toyota? Also make sure you have the tool to install hogrings and about 100 hogrings themselves.

I agree. I imagine you could find plenty of folks willing to trade you. You would lose the heated function, but you could probably pocket some cash.
 
I don't want to lose my heated seats, why would changing the material cause me to lose that function, are they attached to the Softex?

I have Hogring pliers as I added heated seats on my 2009 Tacoma years ago.

I don't want to swap for the Sr5 seats as they won't match color wise. Looking for an all black fabric.

I don't like the Softex as it doesn't breathe and gets too hot especially for long drives.

Have you used them in the summer? I live in Phx and don't have a problem with mine.
 
Go to a junk yard and buy some cloth seats from a 4runner. You can recover what you have with what you find or just swap the seats and keep the softex seats for when you resell.
 
FYI., only problem with cloth seats is they hold odors, I upgraded from cloth to leather in my truck because if I let a really bad fart I could still smell it days later or if damp outside. With leather just crack the window and it's gone instantly.

Plus with leather, the sound resonance is very satisfying and the occasional wet farts are easier to clean up.

I just added seat warmers to cloth seats in my wife’s SR5. It was mandatory if I ever expected to get laid again and yes, they are just mats with a carbon fiber grid that sticks to the foam and has no risk of if igniting farts. They were a pita to install. You feel like you are breaking plastic parts off the seats the whole time. Used the zip ties instead of hog rings, even though I had hog ring pliers.
 
Thanks for the offer. I'm in So Cal and I'm looking for a black cloth to match the rears. I'll leave those as they are easier to care for
