Solid Axle Swapped FJ Detail

This customer wanted me to polish his paint and get the most defects out as i could as he was putting an exo-cage on this coming week. I honestly have never seen paint as hammered as this. There were tons of trail rash as you can see in the pictures. Lots of deep scratches with a lot of thin ones as well. He also just ran the Rubicon so i was up to a pretty heavy task. Owner did not want to have me touch the windows because he honestly didnt care. He didnt want me to touch the undercarriage nor the tires but i couldnt resist. I had to go through a few different products and pads before i finally found one that worked for this paint and situation. This was also the first detail ive done while "mobile". What a pain, i dont know how others can do it, i much prefer home field advantage. This one took roughly 5 hours to complete.

1. Great work! I imagine thats what mine is going to be like if I ever have it detailed. Just curious, what do you charge for those 5 hours of hell?

2. That FJ is killer beefy. Cool car to work on.

3. Those two missing lugs would have driven me crazy.

Amazing detail! Great work and i kinda read the title wrong. Thought it meant a solid axle swap in great detail haha

I need this for mine.

I try to stick to $60/hr but I judge the quote off how long I should take. Usually I'm close.

He actually just returned from the rubicon, he had to use his two lugs to fix his friends 4Runner on the trail. Ended up becoming steering rods and tach'd in to hold. Worked good.

Hey LTDSC could you point me to a few resources that could walk me through doing what you did on this FJ? My paint is in the same shape.

LTDSC, i honestly love seeing your detail threads. its amazing seeing the starting point and the end point, you are truly a master of your craft. I use your threads as a reference for me when i detail my vehicle (although my detailing ability is light years behind yours haha)

i feel giddy just gushing all this at you haha. but basically i love your threads! keep doing what you're doing haha.
