solution to p0171 code!!!

My check engine light came on recently, and I had my muffler guy check it, and the scanner shows p0171, (system too lean bank 1)...

I assumed this was an 02 sensor, and many people agreed...

But nay!

Take out the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor, on the air intake, and clean it, or replace it...

Problem fixed!

Yeap,

That's right.
Before spending some $300 on the O2 sensor plus labor firstly clean the MAF sensor. It could be easily cleaned by the sprays: Electric contacts cleaner or MAF sensor cleaner.
