AZ4Running, I can't say whether or not this will lift your 4Runner any amount...it's important to remember that everyone's measurements are slightly different, it's just way too variable. If your numbers are correct, you're sitting at about the same as me with the lift I put in. Maybe your truck just sits taller? Impossible to say, but the important thing here is it sounds like your rears are sagging and you may consider just replacing those to reduce the backwards rake that your truck has currently. Do some more research CLICK HERE, (just add a space after the last / and then type your search text) and if you don't find what you're looking for, post up a new thread

Thanks for the link! You have some great info in your thread that I didn't cover here. I went ahead and added the link to my original post. Cheers

There was another thread sometime back about the fronts strut assembly. He bolted up the struts and springs from an fj.

I'm going to try this next week with bilstein 5100's all around. I have a '13 FJ and I love the ride so it can't be too bad on my '01. Thanks for the ideas, I'll post up results

Just picked up some FJ rear springs with 5000 miles on them for $40 so I'm going to try this. Any updates on the coils?

Did this rear lift yesterday and didnt net any rear lift. Sitting at 19.5" still. Any reason why this is? Did I do something wrong? Only difference is mine are from a 2014 FJ, not a 2007. Looks as the springs should be the same though.

Hey Matt, not sure why it didn't work out for you...the install (as you know having just done it) is super straight forward, so I'm not gonna even speculate as to why this didn't gain you any lift. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'm not really sure what to tell you. It looks like this has been a successful small lift for others besides just me.

Just out of curiosity, did the springs measure out to approximately the same uncompressed dimension as I've shown in my pics? Did they have a purple paint mark on them as shown? I'm shooting in the dark here, but maybe something was different?

I believe it is due to the fact my springs are from a 2014 FJ while yours are from a 2007. I did some research and thought the springs would be the same, but I guess they are not. I through some spacers on it and got about 1.7" of lift so I'm happy. I don't do much offroading so the spacers are okay for my purpose. You have a great write up here and used it while doing my lift. If you want you can mention not to use 2014 FJ springs as they wont net you any lift, but just a better ride (which may be what people want). Thanks for getting back to me.

To the OP. After things settled both front and rear, are you still happy with the 5100's set to the #2 ring? Or would you have gone the next step higher? And you are talking the #2 from the bottom correct?

So is it confirmed that the 2010-2014 will provide minimal lift?

Correct, if someone wants to do the FJ lift, they specifically want springs from the 07-09 4wd model. NOT the 10-14. And I recommend only OEM springs.

I am curious if this set up is still working well. I can get some FJ Cruiser Springs for pretty cheap and this sounds more appealing than getting new 99 coils. I am also curious why more people haven't run this setup? I can only really find two people. I would think more would run it since FJ Cruiser springs are easy to come by.

The setup is still working extremely well. I was in Moab last September and had zero issues doing Golden Spike (and the Golden Crack, although that was a close one!), Poison Spider, etc...no springs falling out, etc. I will say though, I did not disconnect my swaybar, so I can't speak to the effects of additional rear end flex. Rides like a dream for an all-around, on- and off-road vehicle.

Overall I'd say for a "slightly-taller-than-stock" option, I think this serves the purpose just fine. I think the reason you don't see more of this is because #1: most folks don't even know about the interchangeability, and #2: People modifying 3rd gens typically want more lift/flex than what this option provides. You're right though, the FJ suspension stuff is pretty commonplace with people who end up lifting their FJs and just want a few bucks for the "leftovers".

Right on! Thanks for the reply. I saw you were planning on running 265/75 R16 tires with this setup. Do you have any pics? Also, what did you settle on for the rear shocks? I am assuming 5100s would be too long at full droop.

I am running the 265/75 Duratracs in Load Range C and am loving them...I updated the first post to include updated pics of this setup almost 2 years later. Believe it or not, I'm still running the stock rear shocks. After doing some research, I'll probably look at the Billy HDs for the rear when they NEED replacement. The 5100s are way too long and don't provide the compressed length I'd need without modifying bumpstops...with the truck in it's current platform, I'll be sticking with an "as-close-to-stock-as-possible" shock option. If the need arises for more lift, flex, etc. this will obviously change but I'm really happy for now.

I should have stated in my last post that the Moab trip would not have been possible without my belly armoring (Savage skids & sliders). I chose the Savage kit and it performed extremely well, given what I put it through. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't go out there without the armor. This pic was taken AFTER I pounded out the 3/16 steel that had bent up and was hitting the T-case housing:

Both sets on mine are perfect. Could not ask for a better combo. Great ride - no issues with mild offroading that I do. Not a crawler, but gets me anyplace I want to be offroad / forests and such.
