Some jerkbag hit my truck today and left

I got to my storage unit this morning and noticed this on the rear drivers quarter panel. Must have happened at the gym early this morning, in the dark. Probably not going to report to insurance. Will probably buff out the bumper and get the flare replaced or just painted. Any advice?

Ugh. That sucks man. I hate people who can't seem to do basic things behind the wheel. This is exactly why I park far away where no one else is. I mean, I know my rig is built to get beat up a bit, but I prefer to be the one beating it up.

When I bought my 4runner, one of the mud flaps was mangled from an accident. Bought one brand new, from the dealership, already painted for $105.
Fair price, considering when I called around junkyards, they wanted around $75 plus shipping.

I completely understand. On Friday, my wife had been sitting at light and when it turned green, the guy next to her caused $800 damage to our rear pass door with his mirror?! They were next to each other and both went straight. How does that happen?

No matter what you do there will always be idiots who do sh!t like this and can't own up to their mistakes. If it doesn't buff out it shouldn't be too bad to replace. At least they didn't push your bumper or anything else in.

when i first got my 4runner, i was so happy to drive it to school and park at the autoshop. walked out after class, somebody took a bat or something and hit and dent my hatch door bad, i was about to be in tears. you can see it, its on the left side of the hatch, could be a hammer or a rock that person used.

I dont care if someone hits me on accident, becuase whatever, I've made some mistakes. The part that is stupid is them not leaving a note. That pisses me off so much. I've probably had something like that happen 3 times, and noone will leave a note. Such cowards!

That sucks man. I had an ex back her car into my runner in the same spot you have the damage. I was able to buff out the quarter panel, but I had to replace the fender flare section. IIRC, it cost about $85 from the local stealership.

Thanks for the support. I was really pissed. The reason I bought this one is because the interior and exterior were mint. Yea I have made plenty of mistakes in life but the older I get the more I try to do the right thing. I just hope the damage to the other car is worse. I have to drive around like this for almost a month since I am changing duty stations and going to a school in route.

Just don't let it change the way you do things. In fact, things like this make me put an emphasis on doing the right thing when it comes to others. Maybe it will rub off on some of the ones that typically don't think about doing what's right.

The only thing it may change is how far away from people I start parking. It would take more than a little hit and run to change my outlook.
