Some People Who Work In An Office Are Idiots!

Basically what the title says. I don't know how many of you work in an office, but I swear people turn off their brains when they walk in the door. I work in a law office with 8 other people. I'm the gopher of the office right now, but being relieved of that title this summer when a new guy is coming in. Basically I get lunches, stock supplies, clean up the kitchen area and run errands for my boss on top of the actual work I do. Not glamorous, but it pays the bills right now and I'll be a paralegal in a year.

I don't know what it is, but some of my co-workers just become idiots when they come to work. I don't know how many times someone has asked me where something is and I literally move on item in the fridge or shelf and ta-da there it is. They seem to shut their brain off and if they don't see it right away, then it isn't there. They'll ask me where a supply is and I'll tell the supply closet and all they say is "oh I didn't check there" or "I checked one side, but not the other.":ybrick: Come on. Use your head and look. :gun5: Or they leave food and other items just laying on the counter when they drop something. They don't bother to clean it up or tidy up their spot. It's just common courtesy.

Sorry for the rant, but it just gets to be so annoying. Smart people become idiots and don't bother to put any effort when someone else can do the work for them. I never wanted to work in an office, but situations change and its a great job. But I won't be able to do this forever, I'll probably shoot myself.

It sucks, but they are paying you to do it. Your not a Gopher, your the "b¡tch", don't worry i've been the b¡tch for the past few years, and i will continue to be for about another 7 years, you just gotta push through, then you can screw around with someone like yourself when you get to their stage in life.

It's not just people who do office work. I'm a siding contractor and, I had a business partner for three years. Every day when we got to the job site he would ask what we were going to do." My response was did you finish what you were working on yesterday? If not start there" .He would all so ask the measurements for our standard metal bends and, he had been doing this type of work for 8 years. Got rid of his ass 3 years ago. Now I refuse to work with incompetent people.

Since we live an in "idiocracy" now, this kind of stupidity seems to be expanding exponentially. "They" are breeding faster than the rest of us, so the future looks kind of bleak.

Hardly a day goes by that I don't feel like a one-eyed man in the kingdom of the blind.
:boink: :reddance:

There are at least three times a day when someone will ask a question or make a statement to me, and I conjure up a quote that has to do with D!ck Tracy and a squad car.

 :guitar2:

"When seconds count, the police are only just minutes away."

You gotta grin and bear it. It's money, it's a job and that's all you can do. It sucks, but it's not forever.

I am a manager at a retail store. This particular retail store is a music store (music, surf, and skate to be exact). It's a local business, only three locations. I digress.

For some reason, the fact that I work at a music store means I know everything there is to know about music - ever. I get questions that range from, "What is that song that they're playing on the radio that has that little drum sequence and the lady (you know the one with the soulful voice) sings something about her man done left her and she gonna bust some windows... find me that song." to "I'm looking for a particular song that came out circa 1975... you may be too young to remember... something about Fame... got a real funky guitar in it."

I have even had a few encounters with racism – where I was on the receiving end. One guy came in looking for a "jazz group from Louisiana" and wanted "their album that has the picture of all four of them on it." When I told him there was no way I could help him find what he needed he turned around, looked me straight in the eye and said, "See. This is why my people and your people don't get along." I was a bit taken aback and before I could stop myself I replied, "I'm Mexican – and learn how to use the Internet."

I could go on and on about my experiences, but I'll end with my favorite –

A man was buying two DVDs. One for $19.99, the other for $17.99. After sales tax his total was $41.11. He got angry and asked why it was so expensive. I, annoyed that I had to show a man approaching mid-life (WITH HIS TWO KIDS NEXT TO HIM) how sales tax works, got a calculator and showed him how he got that total. He became even angrier and yelled, "WHY ARE YOU TAXING ME?! BUSH AIN'T IN OFFICE ANY MORE!" I was so dumbfounded that all I could think to respond with was, "Write a letter."

tl;dr - I work in retail. People are stupid.
