some rust

I took the 4r to the self wash place to do some high pressure wash under the truck to remove all the salt from the recent snow. I noticed what looked like surface rust on the ends of the axle. I have a feeling that some amount of rust is normal, but just wanted to check with you guys. What do you guys think?

Don't know if it's normal. but I have rust on hitch receiver too.

That's not rust....it's a patina. Don't remove it, or you will lower the value of the receiver.

Every vehicle you drive in the northeast in bad weather, especially after the plows the salts the road will rust your vehicle, in Colorado and the PNW they seemed to figure out how to reduce the amount of rust incurred when it storms, but that is probably partially due to the fact that Salt is way cheaper and the northeast people have no patients to wait.

Its normal guys. No need to be concerned. As long as the rust is on surface you are fine. If you don't like it then get a can of black paint and spray it.
