Some tough stuff

Well im new here and my family owns two 4Runners. One is a 92' 4Runner 4wd. And the other is a 95' 4Runner 2wd. Well on the 95' me and my dad were tyring to remove the stickers(pinstripe?) on both sides of the runner. Is there an easy way to remove it? We used the blowdryer to make it easier to peel but it would leave that stick residue. How can we remove the stick residue? Thanks

Some VERY careful work with a razor blade will do it. Not too hard to get the hang of, but be sure to use some dishsoap and hot water in a spray bottle, or some commercially produced products for removing sticker goo with it. There are some orange-based products out there that actually work and won't hurt your paint. If you use a solvent, remember, you will have to re-wax at the very least and repaint the clearcoat more likely.

Do NOT use any scrubber pads, or you WILL be repainting. Razors actually work very well. You can practise on a peice of glass, like a spaghetti sauce jar. Get comfy peeling the lables from them and you can think about doing it to your truck. Just watch the corners, they gouge, Keep the blade flat and go slowly and you will be fine. They do make plastic scrapers for this too if you can find them. Check at body shop supply stores or at a janitorial supply too.

thanks gryphon yea today i got all the stickers off but there is still a lot of the sticky goo. im going to try the dishsoap and hot water method if that fails im going to try to looks for something that takes the stuff off

please... DO NOT USE A RAZOR ON YOUR PAINT.


Here's a better way. Try peeling it off with your hand first. Pick at it.. rip pieces off... Once you've done that.. any sort of bug/tar remover will remove any residue left behind. This will ensure you don't "accidently" razor your paint.

Experience> removed decals off my personal "show" car as well as dealership "show" car.

Razors works REALLY well when you have vinyl/decals on your windshield.

Old fashion cigarette lighter fluid will take off the sticky residue. It won't hurt the paint, but always test it somewhere that doesn't show to be sure.

Yes a razor is a bad idea on a painted surface go with bug and tar remover then give it a good wax.

I once had to take duct tape residue off of my 97 Quest and I used dishsoap and hot water in a spraybottle - Dawn Complete...

it worked like magic..
