Some Walmart Stores Accept Oil Filters for Recycling

Just a heads up to DIY oil changers that some Walmart locations now accept used oil filters for recycling as well as the oil itself. Check with your local store to be sure.

To make this easier, I bought a small plastic storage bin with a lid that will hold about 8 filters. That way, I have someplace to keep them and don't have to mess with taking one in every time I do an oil change.

This is way better than chucking them in the trash.

You can take the filters and used oil to jiffy lube too.

Or pretty much any mechanic shop which should have a tank in the back. Tell them what it is you are dumping first. Mine doesn't care if it's motor oil, gear oil, or coolant.

To clarify...I was talking about used oil filters, not used oil. Many places accept used oil but Walmart is the first place I've seen that also takes the filters.
