Something missing? Picture inside

So as I was putting my wheel spacers on this weekend I noticed this! This is the rear sway bar right? I had a shop put my daystar on the week before would they have had to remove this, and forgot to put it back on? THe other side looks untouched.

Yep, looks like you're missing the bushing. It appears from the picture that the bolt head snapped, because to me it looks like the bolt shank is still protruding from the nut.

Would they need to remove it for a spacer lift install? Not really... But they might have to make things a little easier. Maybe they snapped it off when working on it and left it. I don't think the bushing could really just fall off by itself. It clearly hasn't been like that for a long time when you look at the dirt on the other parts.

Have you noticed it driving more squirrelly or any additional body roll?

I didn't notice the bolt shaft still there, thanks for pointing this out. This makes me even more concerned it seems like the bolt would have taken a lot of load to make it shear off the head. And the steel bracket is bent completely back.

Anyone know what might cause this, if it wasn’t caused by the daystar being installed? When installing the daystar they might have stripped the bolt head or something?

Might be that due to the lift you increased the strain on the sway bar links to the extent that the (rusty) bolt snapped with the added tension.

No one seems to talk about it much but I think suspension lifts should include longer or adjustable sway bar end links to normalize the tension on them after the lift. Especially with any significant flexing.

Just a thought.

2nd that. Rotational torque is most likely what snapped that bolt. Plus, why the second bolt and nut (left side on pic) is missing? What are the odds of both sheering off. Lazy mechanics want to use air tools on every damn thing. I've seen impact wrench used on oil drain plug instead of air rachet or just plain wrench.

Ugh, yes they do... I should not have to use a 1/2" Breaker Bar with all my weight to break loose the cap on a oil filter housing on a damn Corolla!

Not EVERY mechanic uses an airtool for everything, but you're right. You have no bloody business using a air ratchet or impact gun on a something like a drain plug. I snapped a sway bar bolt on my truck when installing the lift kit because I over torqued it by hand.

I broke the same bolt when I installed my lift. I was only using a 6-7" ratchet, but the head sheared right off. Still haven't fixed it.
