some son of a :censored: did this to my T4R :cry2: in a parking lot and didn't leave a note :gun6: . I don't think I will make a claim with ins, but use it to try to convince my wife to put a steel bumper on. (that will never work).


So...how do I go about fixing this? Can I just take the bumper off and push it back out? Heat it up with a heat gun from the inside and then push it? It is some pretty hard plastic. Let me know what you think.

thats a pretty big dent, but ive done something similar on my rear bumper (not as big of a dent) a couple times already and each time I've pushed it out with my fist and a heat gun.

although after the last one, it does seem like it's a little not aligned with the rest of the car, but the actual bumper cover can in fact be pushed out with a heat gun and some force.

Well, At least your bumper damage is from a trail, Mine have been off since I haven't been able to get some time to clear coat the rest of it. I backed OVER a Kia. To OP, I worked it out with the guy, though. Sorry for hijacking your thread. But I would say first heat gun and push it out, then clean and polish it. If need be, use some touch-up paint.
 
Any way you can file a police report and maybe have surveillance cameras looked at? I would be all over that just because of the principle. The damage may just be cosmetic, but the fact that someone knowingly did this and left would make me determined to have them pay for it.
 
You can get one on ebay and paint it with bedliner? But yea that sucks luckily its just a cover and not the actual bumper
 
The day after my wife picked up her new 96 Accord.....she was at the grocery store...and some *ss - after putting their groceries in their car just let the cart go...and it rolled down hill right into the side of my wifes car. It put 2 deep scratches in both doors on the drivers side and also the back fender. Luckily the store had security cameras...and we got the dweeb. She wasn't happy she had to pay $3000 to paint the one side. Watching the security camera you could see her looking at the cart as it rolled down the hill and hit my wifes new car.
 
My dad just had the exact same thing happen. Hit it with a heat gun and pushed it out from behind. After some buffing and polishing it looks good as new. Good luck, sucks someone would just run off like that though
 
Yeah I would go with either remove it and heat gun/massage it from the back. Or lift it heat gun and a pry bar. Be careful if you use the pointed side too hard it will poke a hole and more frustration(did it on a Prius at work a few years back) . Buff out the scratches and rhino-line it for protection or plasti dip it.
 
Yeah, ask nearby shops who have surveillance footage of the lot. You're going to be looking for a white vehicle, based on the paint. While the repair may not be that difficult, it's the inconvenience that I would be pissed about...and the fact that the jerkface just drove off without leaving a note or anything. :mad2:
 
Heat gun would be better but i suppose hair dryer will work! as long as there are no creases i think you will be ok. Other than the paint job and being a little out of shape.
 
I got a big dent exactly like that by "dropping" the rear on rock. I took the bumper out and gave it a kick from the behind. The dent just popped out like it was never there.

BTW: I have an extra black, factory painted rear bumper skin. You can have it for FREE. No dent but some scratches at the bottom. I am in So. Cal.
