*Sorry.... Another 285s Thread*

I know I know and I'm sorry but hear me out.... I have read, stressed, read some more, stressed again and finally pulled the trigger. Have a 2016 TE with Daystar 3/2 kit installed. Purchased BFG K02s in 285/70R17s in C Load. Had the 4Runner in the shop to get the rear bumper replaced from a small accident when I purchased the tires. Have the tires at my shop and will have my guys balance and install them. Got the 4Runner back yesterday and went ahead and moved the front fender liner forward just in case.
While I was under I started looking and I know that each 4Runner can be different. I "think" I may be ok with my body mount and I went ahead and removed the front mud flaps as well. My concern was when I saw my Upper A Arm in relation to the stock tire (pics attached). There's not much room at all so my question is: Has any one experienced this size tire rubbing stock the A-Arm? I know I may need to replace it to get better wheel placement and to keep the front diff in check but I'm hoping to NOT have new tires hitting the arm as soon as I pull it out of the bay. I know a spacer would push the wheel away from the suspension but I am more likely to have issues with rubbing the body mount. Am I more or less in a position of "Try and See"? I really don't want to burn up my guys time with mounting and then having to remount my stock tires...

I am having some 285 installed on a 2019. It needs some plastic trimming (minor) and I choose to change the UCA with more adjustment for alignment (I also have a 2in lift). There is also a 12mm positive scrub radius with the 285 which more flexibility to align might help

If the tire does not rub the upper A-arm while turning, the tire will never rub the A-arm while cycling. The tire will always be at the same fixed distance from the A-arm.

You're completely fine. I'm running 285's without a lift and wont ever rub on the A arm.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. I guess I jist get nervous about things I can’t see. It just seems that a tire that is 1” wider and 1” taller will be in contact with the A-Arm. With my Daystar kit on there, it has lowered the A-arm’s position in relation to the tire. I guess I will see in a bit and will keep you all posted. I’m sure there’s lots of T4Rs out here NOT shredding 285s on the suspension. Lol

I'm running 285's with no rub at all. I can run my hand all around and be clear. I am running a 3in front/2in back lift. But All kinds of clearance.

I also stressed over my lift and tires after reading so many different stories on here about people have the same setups and issues with rub, alignment and all sorts. But I came out just fine. GL!

I have 285/70 E-rated KO2s. Ran them with no front lift doing only the fender liner mode and some minor trimming on the bumper. Nothing rubbed other than some minor mudflap contact at ~1/2 lock while compressing the suspension.

I've since added 1.5" of lift to the front, still have the same mudflap contact. Suspect I just need to get a better alignment technician.

Thanks again everyone! New shoes are on and no rubbing at full lock forward or reverse. Need to try out some driveways but if they aren’t doing it now, I suspect if they do it will be minor.

What tire brand do you have? Also do you have the TRDoffroad wheels or the TRD pro wheels? Reason I’m asking is that I have TRD pro wheels on the way and someone is selling me some nitto ridge grappler 285 70 17 but I am not quite ready for a lift yet

They are the Trail Edition wheels. Look similar to the newer TRD Off Road wheels. I haven’t seen the specs on the TRDOR wheels but I know mine are 7.5” wide. Tire brand was the BFG K02s in C Load range.

Only issue with putting 285s on the TRD Pro wheels is that you are mounting them on a 7” wide wheel. Most people here have no issues but just watch your tire pressures if you wheel at all to make sure you don’t loose a bead.
