2. Biggest bang for your buck and back is easily the doors and cargo area. Then the floor and finally the roof. I was pleasantly surprised by the factory sound deadening on the floors. Doors and cargo area will net you the biggest improvement in noise reduction.
I can vouch for this significant noise reduction by doing just the cargo area and all the doors-inside and out (meaning the shell of the door), including the 5th door.
After seeing this write up, I duplicated it but only used the Xtreme DynaMat, all doors and cargo area now have that solid "clunk" sound when closing them. It definitely gives my T4R a better solid-well built feel.
My goal was to have ZERO rattling when bassin' that could be heard from outside the car. And doing this achieved this. I also placed some DynaMat on the backside of my license place. Bottom line is sound deadening to me is worth it. I plan to do this to every vehicle I own, because not only does it kill exterior noise and vibration, it improves speaker output,clarity and SPL.
The audio that my speakers product in the doors is a 110% improvement, although I did change the stock JBL system it came with, you just know by looking and installing the DynaMat that your speakers have a more stable environment to play in.
With the radio off, its nice and quiet. When I roll down the window its crazy how loud it is out there, then I roll it up....silence.:jump:
As for those that comment on increasing weight, this may be true but I think I lost enough weight while doing this project in the sun to balance it out.
I have always said if its worth doing (which it is) it's worth overdoing!
Nice work Hokie, how does that Alpine sub sound? I think I want to put in a low profile sub to fit the stock box.
