I called myself trying to be cheap when I got speakers for the Runner the first time. The guy who installed it told me to get 6x9 speakers for the front but apparently he had trouble installing them and now one of my front speakers is blown. So idk if he just did a crappy job or if the speaker was just crappy, so now i wanna do it right. I was just wondering what speakers do yall think sound the best and should i get a sub this time?

^ dont' listen to this guy, MB quart are not german anymore and just an ok budget brand now. Whats you budget for everything, amps, speakers, subs, HU, and install material.

Also do the install yourself if you can, its not that hard. Or get someone that knows what they are doing, if you have the money.

I really don't know what the budget is because this will be a grad present. I'm guessing a couple hundred. I'm just replacing the front 2 speakers because those are the ones that don't sound good and 1 is blown, also already have a HU. I also just want a single sub probably an 8" and im guessing an amp would help with sound.

Where are planning to mount everyting? Is this Jbl or non Jbl?

If you have an after market HU, then it good. you need the rca outputs to run an amp. I thinking your gonna spend around $400 for everything.

ya i was just joking about the morel's lol.. I think thats too rich for anyones blood. But any of there cheaper stuff is awesome too. Morel, hertz, dynaudio, diamond, focal, mcintosh, rainbow.

Take your pick.. All top of the line gear.
 
A budget would really help decide how "nice" of a system you can get. I mean, you can get a decent system for $400 or so I would think. $100 for a decent pair of 6x9's, $200 for a nice 8" sub and amp. Are you wanting to amp the 6x9s too? I'd definitely recommend that!

Also, what part of GA are you in? If you're fairly close, I could help with installing everything!
 
I just picked up an MB Quart amp with a 12” Kicker sub (free enclosure), and a NVX amp kit all for under $400 shipped from sonic electronix.
Ordered a Pioneer DEH-X6700BS from crutchfield the week before for 130.

Its not a super budget buy but it was all definitely worth it. The rest of the speakers are stock. The HU made a great improvement on sound quality.
 
Morel Ultra Tempo 692 upgrade

Hi, All, first time poster. Just want to get some opinions if these Morel Ultra Tempo 692 component set will fit in a 2006 4-runner non-JBL. Front doors. I know there top mounting depth 3 7/16". Was just wondering how much modification will have to be made. Possibly 1.5" spacer to clear window. Possibly a little dremaling of the front card. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Or should I buy them and a have a shop install them? Going to run them off of a Kenwood DMX905S and a decent 4-5 channel amp that can fit under the seat. Dynamatting the doors. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

start with the 1 inch spacer, if using a 4 channel amp, might want to try active, but set the tweeter to 4khz at -24db slope, cant really recommend you to run active if you cant set the tweeter up. so when you say dynamat, are you doing both the inside and outside. or just the speaker cutout. having a good set of front speakers with the right install and setup can do alot, really dont need the rears.
 
Dynamatting inside and out of the doors for now. Plan on going passive for now. Also plan on adding a 10" sub. Just want good clean sound. More sound quality than bump.
 
Everyone's ears are different, and speakers are very personal items... so the best can be a subjective topic.

That said, a good quality, well made speaker from a reputable brand is what you want.

On the high end of things, I very much like DynAudio, but there are other brands to consider like Focal and MB Quarts... but I haven't listen to anything from MB Quarts in the past 5+ years so I can't really comment on them. [MENTION=91713]ddnww[/MENTION] mentioned a bunch of other quality brands.

+1 on Dynamatting especially in a mobile environment. You need to double amplification to get a 3db gain in volume. Its much easier / more efficient to try and make the car quieter, than to throw amplification at the problem.

Equipment if half the battle... tune is basically where rubber meets the road. The ability to do "room correction" using a measurement mic and a parametric EQ will go a long way towards the final product.

I'll take a system with lesser speakers and a tune over some incorrectly setup high end stuff any day of the week... but that's just me.
