Sounds like stuff is falling off the car and breaking

I don’t really know how to describe it. I hope the video uploads right. But I have a 99 limited, and as i was driving home last night it randomly sounded like my transfer case fell off and stuff was hitting the ground. I got out, nothing looked wrong. Kept driving and this sound, like a thud paired with loud vibrations kept happening. The sound seems to be coming from the J shifter. No clue what to do. Horrible timing with school and work.

Don’t think the video will upload. It’s just a dark video with loud thuds every few seconds paired with vibrations Maybe grinding

Without hearing it, it sounds like the drive shaft. I’m assuming you only hear it while the car is moving?

Crawl under and give the driveshaft a jiggle, up and down, side to side, try twisting it.

Yes it’s only while moving. Just got under. Driveshaft doesn’t move up, down, or side. Just twists maybe an inch each way

Safely jack up the right rear wheel, the drive wheel, while safely chocking others. Start up and put in gear to simulate driving. Get under, listen and feel transfer case, sounds like could be that. When they go, they get crunchy. Anyway, this is a good way to pin point the noise in simulated drive mode.

If dogtails test dosent prove any results and you happen to be in the rust belt. Start looking for rusted off brackets, etc. They get noisy and crunchy when they are coming loose.

I would say you have some serious issues. I have heard of people having transfer case issues.. Pull the driveshafts off and get it towed in to see what is going on.
