Source for rebuilt 22RE's

Hi All,

Have been searching the archives but looking for some recent successful vendors to get a rebuilt 22RE from.

I've looked at Jasper but don't think I can afford them. Oregon Engine Rebuilders looks promising and they're reasonably close to my Idaho home so hopefully shipping would be reasonable.

But of course if you Google something you get lots of pros and cons for everyone (nightmares, praise etc.) so it's hard to sort through.

Anyone who can share first hand good or bad experiences it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Avoid Jasper engines, their domestic motors are good but they get import motors from places like Yamato. I have been inside Yamato motors before, it is the McDonalds of engine rebuilding, minus lettuce and special sauce. I don't know how they manage to warranty those, must be that the purchase price is so high they can afford to hand out new ones . The people working there make just above minimum wage, far away from a quality machine shop.

O.R.E has a very interesting warranty, I haven't used them but they seem to make a quality product that they are willing to back up.

I have a jasper engine in mine that was installed at the dealership before I purchased the vehicle. It has 40k on the engine and something is ticking.I checked the valves and only three were out of adj still looking for cause of noise but not impressed with quality of rebuild.I hope it last long enough for a diesel swap.
