South American 4th Gen T4R (Spot the differences!)

Hey all,

Just wanted to say hi and figure out a few differences. I recently purchased a 2007 T4R Limited in Colombia, South America and am in the process of adding my mods. Im going for the OEM Plus look to build a road friendly and expedition capable vehicle. Here´s what I have done so far:

OME Coils and Bilstein 5100s
LED interior lighting, backup light and licence plate lights
Upgraded HU (Alpine IVE W530)
Weathertechs all around
Group 27 nautical battery with always on direct cable to rear 12v
Custom built roof rack coming in next week with 30 inch Rigid 30 Inch SR light bar

I was looking at your posts and saw that these versions dont come with any sort of traction control, hill descent control or drivers aid like the US versions do which brought up a couple questions. What can my car be missing, can you spot the differences between my rig and yours?

How do I know if I can fit 16" rims on my car? What are the measurements for backspacing, width and distance between the 6 lugs I need to find? Where should I measure?

Is my layout under the hood different than the US model? I cant seem to find any real space to actually put in a dual battery system. (See pic)

Without me actually looking this information up, I'd guess that your 4Runner is an SR5 with little to no options on it and not actually a Limited.

maybe someone who knows everything about the different trim models can chime in.

Your HVAC isn't the same as mine and like you said, you're missing all of the extra features, no roof rack. Do you have cloth or leather? I don't know maybe the dealer that brought that truck in ordered a limited with zero options. I'm not sure if that's possible though.

Other than that it looks like your standard 4Runner, this will look good with your custom rack, look forward to pictures.

and yeah, you're missing the hood insulation.

not in the US,

It also has no diff lock so I'm assuming it's has a manual or electric-mechanical transfer case and ADD on the front axle. may not even have the ADD it may just be the old style of 4wd systems no AWD aloud on dry pavement.

also this limited is missing dual climate control, the A/C 115watt outlet, and I can't tell if it has the heated seats the pictures aren't showing the center console.

It doesn't have a gauge light dimmer switch either or the ODO/RESET buttons to the left of the gauge cluster. Also showing a manual trip reset button on the right gauge bezel.

I'm not a 4Runner expert...but

My guess is that this 4runner is an SR5 and someone switched the side emblem to 'Limited 4WD' and then sold it as a 'Limited'? Can you do a VIN lookup on Toyota service website and find out what service/maintenance has been done on the truck?

I was thinking this until I saw the memory seat function?! i have an sr5 and while his looks like my interior wise(no dual climate zone) I also have a spoiler and rails. jealous about the seat function though.

edit: he also has lighted running boards(arent those limited specific?) And eventhough I have an sr5 I still dont have all switch blanks on the dash like him? interesante

Very jealous about the seat memory. I dont know how many times i finally get the seat good and the gf drives it and shes a midget. :infidel:

He's missing the electro-hydraulic booster and has a standard vacuum cylinder. ABS module is by the air intake inlet.

what do you guys in the US have to look at your trip meters and reset them if not that button on the right cluster? maybe this is a imperial vs metric gauge cluster difference.

This is the same button as mine in a US 06 Limited. The lower ac control buttons (temp up...) are from an sr5 for sure. And don't forget the sr5 wheels, when in 07 those should be the 18"

I believe I've seen/heard that other market 120's have had the electronically selectable 4WD without the center diff lock option. So instead of 4HI like we do with an open center diff, his will engage 4HI Locked. Or it may only be 4HI Unlocked without a locking option - which makes no sense to me, but then again, how many mom wagen SUV's on the road nowadays operate like this.

You have the same overall setup that the USA guys have (4 Pot Front Calipers, 1 Pot sliding rear). You're brake booster setup is just different as the assist relies on the vacuum pressure from the engine whereas we have a electric pump and ABS module in one unit (no vacuum boost).
