spare tire crank

K, anyone else ever seen this? Bought a 95 about 2 months ago, an it is missing the linkage from the tire crank to the winch....I have no idea how else to get the tire down to fix this!!

I can't find any other way to get to the winch.....can't imagine how someone managed to break or otherwise lose the link.

Any ideas? Or do I just have to have a shop start breaking things out?

On 1st and 2nd gens the crank rod inserts directly into the winch through an opening in the sheet metal. Are you sure yours isn't the same ? (I've never really checked it out on a newer truck).

spare tire crank problem..

unfortunatley, I'm sure.....I spent some time teaching the underside of my truck some new words over this....the hole is actually in the bumper, and the rod goes in at an angle (towards the left, when facing the rear of the truck), mates up with a crank, which in turn is supposed to be linked up to the winch....but it looks like there's a connecting rod missing, the crank just spins freely...this was news to me too, coz I was used to the older models where it goes straight in as you mentioned.

Mainly just trying to come up with alternate ideas for getting the tire down so this can be fixed.....hoping to not resort to cutting it down...
