Spare tire lift

Recently I was power washing the insides of the wheels and wanted to check the condition of the spare and power wash that as well. I found that there was no shaft that fit the lift mechanism in the tire tool kit. I found and ordered the part on ebay. When I received it it did not fit. Sent it back, ordered from local dealer it came in and it did not fit. I tried a 3/8 extension and it worked perfectly. - I bought another and keep in the truck now with a 3/8 ratchet.

Do you have a question or are you just informing? If none of the factory tools worked then it's most likely that you have an aftermarket tire lift.

That's weird it did not fit. Did it have the lock adapter on it by chance? What does the female end on the winch look like?

I just measured mine, and it's the same size as a 3/8's extension.

A 3/8" ratchet will work, you probably have an aftermarket jack. Quick tip, a 3/8" drive will fit in the tool for the jack as well, I use a low power cordless drill with 3/8" drive adapter to quickly move the jack up and down, saves a lot of time, I also picked up a second jack in case the one breaks for some reason.

Just info on what I found.

I am missing the factory tool PO did not take care of her. Found a jack and lug wrench bag at the salvage yard it was missing any tool to lower the spare. Still looking for the factory tool. Thanks for all the info! When I get home I'll drop the spare and attach a picture.

Went back to the pick and pull and found the spare tire lift crank it works like it's supposed to!
